Matchday Thread PNE v Huddersfield Town - 9/4/24 - KO:7.45pm - Championship

Anybody see the complete bellsniff kicking off in the town end every time pne scored?
I couldn't work out why he was kicking off, but it was after every goal.
Somebody said he's a prick and does it every game.
Very odd behaviour indeed….

I’m going to hazard a guess it’s the lad on AD? He’s been mentioned a few times on here. Always stood up down the front, quite the passionate fan.

Well done Ossie.
Superb movement and finishing.
My man of the Match was Duane Holmes, despite Ossie's deadly spell.

I have just had a peep on the Norwich forum to see if there is any reference to the upcoming game against us but there is no mention yet…..

However, there is a thread which is about “ Play Off Tickets priority “ during which they debate how many tickets they will get for the away leg …..

How entitled and arrogant is that ?

One poster even talks about needing a bigger Wembley because they would easily take 45,000…..

So even quicker than Osmajic - so maybe what we saw last night was only the second fastest hat-trick ever by a PNE player. Brian Godfrey was a superb player - really tough but also creative when required. He cost us I think about £5,000 from Scunthorpe and was a mainstay of the team throughout the mid-60s.
And many thought he should have played in the '64 final. Maybe he should, but having said that, I always liked Alec Ashworth as well.

The 2nd & 3rd goals are just really good all round.
1st one isn’t half bad either. Absolutely nobody was making that run across the face of goal all night even though Brady and Holmes kept playing the right balls into the area

1st felt like they let Huddersfield run the midfield, and any possession involved pointless passes long the backline.
2nd half was a lot more direct and exploited the holes they left.
But it was hard to tell from my seat really, the young un wants to get close to the goal. They always do at that age.
I prefer to be about half way up the stand so I can see the game unfold.
He'll learn.
It was pretty cool watching Ozzy bag that hat trick from.about 10 yards away though.

On TV it didn't look as bad as many seem to be saying. Not a great performance by any means but I felt that we probably had more of the game and looked like we could be dangerous once or twice. Main issue was a lack of intensity - sometimes we're a bit careful when the game wants taking by the scruff of the neck. Oh, for a prime Sean Gregan. A bit of laziness in possession and poor positioning in central midfield put us under the cosh once or twice but I felt Huddersfield would fade as they were putting a lot into it and so it proved. I thought we'd win the game at that point (documentary evidence of this exists!)

Second half was an improvement - good subs made the difference as many have already explained.

I was stood on the Kop .. directly behind the goal at the back . When we scored we rolled down the wooden steps til those bull bats stopped us .. when the fifth went in my then mate Paul Skiba thumped me ! It was mad … by the time I left England in early seventy for a two year holiday in Oz curtesy of being a ten pound Pom . ( the holiday that never ended I’m still here) I’d graduated to the west stand corner underneath the broadcast box . Where the atmosphere was more muted but exquisitely targeted. As was ‘snooksies ‘ barrack of hughie mcilmoyles efforts to chase back and tackle in what would be called a lull in play ..unimpressed with a half hearted effort Snooksie let him have it … WELL DONE MACILMOYLE .. pause YOU SHITHEAD !!!
Are you still in contact with Abiks, I would have been stood very close to you?

That last bit could have been taken straight from the Lashers forum………
