Matchday Thread PNE v Norwich City - 13/4/24 - KO:3PM - Championship

Thanks North End, thanks a fucking lot. We're so predictable that it's just so tiresome.

Thought we did alright first half but offered the square root of fuck all second half and the subs were truly baffling.

Lowe can take the blame for the subs and set up, Ridsdale etc can take the blame for us being ill-equipped.

I could go on a rant but what's the bloody point? Fed up with this club and its acceptance of mediocrity.

Tried hard and gave it everything. Thought we shaded the first 60 mins but unfortunately the lack of quality recruitment in key areas has caught up with us. No viable replacements for tiring players (especially Centre Mid & Wing Back) meant a disjointed last 30 mins and ultimately there was only going to be one winner from then on. Disappointed but not surprised.
You don't need to quality to ask more questions an show alot more movement than what we did today.

He was the only one with any kind of movement, constantly showing for the ball, breaking up there play.
We offered absolutely nothing after his departure.
How can we approach a game like this, just hoping for something to land for us.
Zero movement, especially in the 2nd half.
That to me is unforgivable
I think Holmes was dead on his feet as were a few others.
We put a hell of a lot into that 1st half and really needed to come off with an advantage.
Whatmough hitting the bar was a pivotal moment for me.

2 shots on target in a must win game. Take off our only player with flair and when we do get the ball upfield, because we are so defensive, we have 0/1 player in the box supporting.

It’s dire and anyone who thinks Lowe is the man to progress this club is delusional.
Spot on. Hes not going to change. Looking at what we finished with and where players were playing was embarrassing

I think I had probably reconciled myself to the fact that our season was over when we didn’t beat Watford and didn’t even look like we were trying to do so either. However, since then I do think we have given it a good go but, as is our usual luck, injuries have cost us. I am just glad we haven’t sat back or rolled over today, we can do no more than that. The sub of Mads for Evans was probably a mistake but, to be fair, everyone was saying Mads wasn’t having his best game. Unfortunately for RL Evans was no improvement at all, quite the contrary, but knowing it was a must win game he rolled the dice and who can blame him for that. No use bemoaning the loss of the game though, because we were mostly very happy with the first half and really right up to the substitution. We will just have to wait to see what happens in the summer now but if we can keep the spine we currently have, I am quite optimistic for next season.

Ryan Lowe getting destroyed by Steve Eyre post match on Radio Lancs. Stating amongst the worst set of subs he’s ever seen. Destroyed the set up and left us with no midfield to create anything.
Lowe has one plan and would rather have Osmaijic and Riis playing wing backs at the end than change his beloved system.
Shame as we had looked threatening in the first half. Needs to be a thorough review of this season at the end. This manager has been backed financially with players and agents fees, but it’s pointless if you are going to make scattergun changes like that more often than not. I don’t see him changing.
Sack him

So what else after that chance?
We did alot of running but how many clear cut chances?
None!
The rest were all half chances or just plain hope more than anything else.
The amount of times one of our defenders were trying to bring the ball out waiting for somebody to move an create space was staggering.
This is not the way to approach a game like this.
This to me was a typical Lowe set up an performance. Alot of endeavour but completely clueless

That’s what happens when you play teams with more quality….you are limited to 1/2 chances and have to hope one goes in.

Agreed. Just felt we ran out of ideas and the options on the bench were pretty limited so the changes actually made us worse.
Mate, I thought we lacked ideas throughout.
First half better than second but it still felt we were more hopeful of something landing for us than making things happen ourselves.

Always felt like it was going away from us today. Too many very key players missing today and some of those on the pitch were way off full fitness. Just hope the wheels don’t completely come off in remaining games.
