Matchday Thread WBA v PNE 4/5/24 - KO: 12:30 - Championship

Just to throw my hat in on this lively conversation regarding Alan Browne for whatever it’s worth, here goes. Been a good servant for us had some decent games over the years but on the whole & this is my opinion ( if I’m allowed one) very average player nothing outstanding & definitely not a leader in my eyes. If he does go which it’s looking very likely thank you for your service to our club & best of luck to wherever you end up. I think we need a complete overhaul of the team/ squad as we have a lot of players nowhere near good enough.

That's where i sit.

Browne has been a great servant and clearly loves the club. However, if we want ambition then he's not a player who is either a) skilful enough to build a team around or b) a big enough leader on the pitch

He's goes with our blessings. But we need a whole new squad of hungry, quality players. Somehow.

Just fed up. I'm not expecting us to be world beaters. Just want us to actually try and win a game of football.

I know I'm a whining cunt at the best of teams but these last 5 games have just been embarrassing
Mate, I'm with you.

I have been a Lowe fan as I believe in giving someone a good go at the gig (not a fan of silly sackings) but 2 1/2 years is a good go imo. He can't complain, in this day and age, at his own personal timescale here. I like to be and play fair.

I know I have had a massive pop at Browne recently because he is supposed to be our on the pitch Leader. He lack of leadership thoroughly pisses me off. I'm letting off long overdue but deserved non alcoholic steam.

Both are problematic regards PNE moving forward.

Culturally, PNE has to change. It is endemic within the club the self satisfying and self congratulatory performance of another 13th, 12th, 10th place finish.

Much like in the early 90s when in whats now L1, our habitual home was 17th.

Nutshell - complacency is rife and sadly acceptable. I genuinely believe that Lowe doesn't want this. He doesn't though know how to execute avoiding and exterminating this.

Ridsdale has to go though, not for anything he has or hasn't done but simply so that younger fresher ideas and innovations can take place and organically grow.

PNE - A life of drudgery.

Or be a true supporter
A true supporter is someone that wants the absolute best for the club and the City it represents, that is a very long way from happening and has been the case for what seems like an eternity. Those that applaud that to happen are not real supporters they are bystanders who have little pride in either the club or the City.

Is Ridsdale more like horse jizz or monkey jizz. Debate ensues.
These are the real questions that need answers to.

Well no point talking about the football as lowe believes 100% that he can take us on to the next step and it's only one or two of us that have been pointing fingers and not getting behind the lads.

Oddly enough hasn't really spoken about the fact his team has not scored a goal in the last 5 games whilst conceding 11.

Probably can't count to 11 so completely oblivious.

With respect JD, Alan Browne would run through a brick wall for a manager he believed in, and the problem is, he doesn't believe in Lowe.

McGeady has only performed for one manager, and otherwise turns into a flop, if not nurtured as Grayson appeared to do with him.

Equally pissed off and any chance of season tickets sales matching previous seasons is dependant on a new manager.
Make you wonder how many others don’t believe in Lowe.

Looking at this table of wage bills for 23/24 (and assuming it's accurate) it's apparent that unless we 'strike lucky' and appoint a Kieran McKenna or Rob Edwards, it's going to be very difficult for us to ever progress beyond mid-table mediocrity.

I hate to say it, but on the basis of wage budgets, we are overachieving. After Ipswich and Coventry, we're the biggest overachievers in the league.

However, in the past two seasons, Luton and Ipswich have shown you can get promoted with a relatively modest wage bill, if you have the right man in charge, some ambition - and an actual plan. Sadly, we have none of these. It goes without saying that Lowe must go, but I have zero confidence anything will change for the better under the current ownership, and especially not while Ridsdale remains at the club.

He doesn't look at social media apparently. Bollocks. When the praise was coming in he milked it .Now the boot is on the other foot he doesn't? Grow a spine and admit you've got it wrong. Come away with a bit of credit. Don't forget a lot of people on social media subsidise your wages.

Correct. We can accept that we aren't going to demand a top 6 place based on financial muscle. But what we should be able to demand is a plan, a strategy, to progress, to make up that financial defect and to entertain the fans.

Over the last 30 months of Ryan Lowe I have not seen any of that.
