Why Devine was a substitute today is beyond me. He is so much more effective than the other midfielders on display
I don't know this for sure but I think he was ill. Unless anyone can correct me, I didn't notice him go out to warm up once. Why Devine was a substitute today is beyond me. He is so much more effective than the other midfielders on display
He was out at half time but I never noticed him at any other time. Storey wasn’t warning up at half time at all, which led us to assume he was coming on - unless we mistakenly thought the missing player was Devine and not Storey!I don't know this for sure but I think he was ill. I actually wouldn't mind trying Lang at #9, with Dobbin and Devine behind him. Having said that, I thought we looked more threatening in the second half when we changed to a front two.
Yep. No Storey. I too thought he was coming on.He was out at half time but I never noticed him at any other time. Storey wasn’t warning up at half time at all, which led us to assume he was coming on - unless we mistakenly thought the missing player was Devine and not Storey!
this just about sums up your complete and utter lack of football knowledge, their keeper will never have an easier game away from home.I thought we looked more threatening in the second half when we changed to a front two.
He has been one of our better players this season so I could see another Championship side coming in for him ….My understanding is that the only thing which is certain is that if we want to buy him we can offer the pre-agreed fee and Spurs are contractually bound to accept it.
After that it’s up to Devine and us to agree terms. Does he want to join us, are we prepared to give him the wages he want? (I suspect negative in both cases).
Quite apart from this is the consideration that the pre agreed fee (£4.5m ish from memory) is way above anything we have paid before and, to my mind, overvalues the player anyway.
Next to no chance it happens under this ownership.
I think we’ve become so used to mediocrity that we massively over-hype some players. He has been one of our better players this season so I could see another Championship side coming in for him ….
Burnley maybe , if he wants to stay up North…
Spurs may well be a Championship side themselves next season - in which case they may decide to keep him!He has been one of our better players this season so I could see another Championship side coming in for him ….

Not an unreasonable point.Spurs may well be a Championship side themselves next season - in which case they may decide to keep him!

Is he that good, really? Not worth the supposed fee in my eyes, nowhere near.
I think that is the reality, while our owners big up the signing of Lang as a record transfer. The reality is that £2 million is nothing in football today or the past 15 years or so we are just so behind the times with everythingMore like we have become so used to paying peanuts that the fee quoted for Devine seems expensive; when in reality it is the going rate for a decent, young, English midfielder on the back of a positive season in the second tier
Hopefully there will have been a regime change before the next transfer window...Can anybody realistically see ridsdale out of his limited budget from IOM fork out 4.5 million for Alfie Devine even though we supposedly have an option to buy clause. It will be another case in pre season of a talksport exclusive " listen I only have x amount of cash to play with and this summer we wanted to spend on the pitch but we tried" but the agents moved the goalposts .However ive got a new player coming for a trial at Euxton what one of my contacts recomended and he is a cross between Pele,Messi and a modern day neil trebble. If this deal falls through we may even see ridsdale in his shorts on pitch in Benidorm again before the kick off of another meaningless friendly we gain nothing from though this time he might insist of being picked in the starting line up
Where so starved by this ownership that we think that's a big fee. Look at what others spend.I think we’ve become so used to mediocrity that we massively over-hype some players.
