I would say very few people outside Preston have ever heard the word cha, never mind know what it means.
It’s definitely never made it down as far as London

I use to hear it a lot in the mid 90s when I was a young electrician working with some of the older sparks.I did a holiday job at Direct Poultry, Inskip, when i was a kid, i think it still exists, that was a term I heard, often, used out there.
Still there mate. Most of my ancestors are buried in Inskip Church round the corner!!I did a holiday job at Direct Poultry, Inskip, when i was a kid, i think it still exists, that was a term I heard, often, used out there.

Only heard “cha” on here, user name/posts.
Fettler though ………. 👏👏👏👏
I’d buy 2; 10 if combined with graphic of butter pie & parched peas. 🤩

Other half are buried at Woodplumpton and that’s not much better!!When I was there it was them threllies who were the big employers and in competition with each other, it seemed like the outback back then

So your not a fan cha?The cha thing is a bit sad.
People walking behind might think a "v" has come off in the wash.
It's like Midlands teams have duck or North East teams having pet on the back. Would Salford have chuck?
Very strange choice.
I've always found hearing the word 'cha' used so weird but I grew up in East Lancashire where its definitely not used. I always thought it was sort of Preston area slang for 'mate' or 'pal' etc.
Why the fuck we have it on the back of one of our shirts though.....I just laughed when I saw it.

Still there mate. Most of my ancestors are tonburied in Inskip Church round the corner!!
Think that many from Walton le Dale area will be able to say that, there seemed to be a mass migration late 1700's for the good growing conditions.
Geez, wish they would get this t o done!

This "cha" thing only seems to be used tagged on after insults from what I've seen.
I see/hear it more from Lashers mocking us than anywhere else.
It's like a hollow "boss man" from a new barber or "yes my friend" off a kebab shop owner when you're pissed. Certainly no pride in it anyway.

I don't particularly like all the tatoos, I don't think they go with the shirt.
On second thoughts, maybe they do.

That should have read as "never heard that before" btw.No, just bullshit. I've travelled the country quite a bit over a number of years and over heard that before. However I do have a Geordie mate and I'll run it by him for another opinion.
Presumed as much. Geordie mate won’t take too kindly to being lumped in with Sunderland and Durham though!! Bit parochial up there!!That should have read as "never heard that before" btw.

All reet, cha, isn't it, as in... are you alright"O reet cha" or "Preston, Cha" would have been better. "Cha" on its own just looks too random.
Ideas for next season:
1880
Proud Preston
Were you first to do the double were you fuck
I don't think so. Cha used to be char. It's just chav speak, a universal term for anyone and everyone, Cha !This "cha" thing only seems to be used tagged on after insults from what I've seen.
Interesting to see so much snobbery about a simple local colloquialism. Personally I take a lot of pride in 'Cha', it is uniquely ours.
