Don't think attending games to scout players really happens much nowadays given how easily accessible it is to watch games through the services they pay for, and have the powers that be compile videos too.

Certainly not at the higher levels anyway. Definitely do at youth levels.

Aye I'd think that managers identifying targets themselves is a bit less common these days too. I'm not sure how many players we've been after were ones identified by Heckingbottom but I'd imagine they wouldn't reflect the majority. Same with under Lowe and Neil.

Which is why I think Heckingbottom was more involved with bringing in the known quantities with plenty of Championship experience, rather than the younger gambles.

Tbf, he only made 6 starts in the league and came on as a sub for an additional combined 46 minutes for them. So not sure actually watching football would make any difference

What’s landed us here is the manager unable to decide on a set formation which means we now have a lop sided squad with no real formation that suits the players.

Alexander has a real job on his hands but so does any manager. Mills is likely to be at right wing back which is a real shame and that is all down to Hecky.

Another player we're about to ruin. A player that has sell on potential and we're about to take that away. Well run club though eh.
 
Type of player we should be picking up if we want a proper development team. Very highly rated a couple of years back. Newcastle paid good money for him.

The only issue is your first sentence.
 
Didn’t even realise he was playing in Turkey. Could be a decent move for him. You’d imagine it’ll be his last club, unless he’s going become a traditional end-of-career lower league journeyman for a few years.
