Matchday Thread Birmingham City v PNE | 13.10.26 | KO:8PM | Championship
First win tonight on the road back to sanityIt’s fair to say I’d take a point tonight.
Good to see Mills starting tonight. Small starting is interesting with Vuk on the bench. Still looks an uphill struggle mind.

be surprised if gibbs is in the 10 with Devine playing tbhI’m usually pretty good at guessing formations but I’ve got nothing there
I’m assuming Lang up top with Gibbs in the 10?

Glad Mills is back for this one but what's the plan up top? You can't be hoofing the ball up field with Lang being your only target man.
I fear that Mills is going to become the 2026 version of Okkels.
A Winger signed for a specific role which we then don't use because of the dreaded WB system.
WB negates his attacking strengths.
Let him attack with a FB behind him in a 4231 or a 433.
We'll get tonked tonight.
Not a single MF on the bench. Make you own MF jokes!!

Do wish we would go 4.5.1 and be hard to beat.
Mills has been brought in to play high up the pitch, not as a wing back with lots of defensive duties...

I'm normally hopeful but seldom confident. Tonight I'm struggling to be hopeful.
Please surprise me N.E.

Iversen
Offiah Storey Hughes
Mills Leroy Thompson Small
Gibbs Devine
Lang
I am guessing, a 3-4-2-1.
This looks right.
Big game for Gibbs to show something, honestly.

Unless Gibbs is in there to sure up the midfield with Devine playing off Lang up topHaven't a clue but maybe
IversenDoesn't make good reading for Moran, that Alexander prefers a loan from Norwich over him.

Tough shit really, isn't it? The club botched the recruitment and we failed to convert to wingers. So it's play like this or sit on the bench and sulk.
As it is, wingback suits his attributes pretty well, he's a hard worker, but will get up high to put crosses in.
Agreed. But there is Moran on the bench, so one solitary MF representative. It seems that the manager doesn't rate hin anymore than the last one did.I fear that Mills is going to become the 2026 version of Okkels.

Given how attacking the wingbacks are, I could see that being a sensible decision. Gibbs and Thompson can both drift out to cover out wide.
