Club Takeover/Investment

Club Takeover/Investment

Are we as a fanbase so desparate to follow the Hemmings/Ridsdale/Penrose out narrative that some will do anything to keep alive this pathetic hope that Zedan will complete his takeover of our club. Take it from me (my opinion), this 'takeover' is dead in the water and was so a long time ago.

Trust me, I worked in the Middle East for seven years, three of which were spent in Saudi, and I can tell you that when a Saudi businessman truly wants something, he gets it. One thing they don't do however is piss around for months and months an months, playing stupid games, keeping quiet (appreciate the NDA) and generally being dictated to by a governing body they will see as third rate. Let's be honest, Zedan fell silent months ago and absolutely nothing has happened since, apart from a half-arsed, ill-timed statement from Ian Penrose that was targeted at giving everyone a boost on the eve of the new season - how did that one work out!!??

Anyway, back to Zedan and the 'takeover'. Thinking outside of the narrative box that most people on here seem to want to jump into, are we really certain that Zedan is the right man to take our club forward, because I'm really not so sure! I have a few questions/comments:
  1. Does Zedan actually have enough money to both buy the club and then put in the required investment that so many believe is necessary to take us to the promised land?
  2. What is the reason for him (apparently) looking for another investor to come in alongside him?
  3. We currently have a UK based family worth more than a billion as owners, Zedan is, at best, worth 300 million. Now I'm not the world's best mathematician, but there does appear to a rather large difference there!
  4. What experience does Zedan have in running a UK based business that is consistently in a loss-making position, as most English football clubs are?
  5. I've seen it mentioned many times on this forum that Zedan may walk away from the 'deal' if (when) we get relegated - if this is the case, do we really want our proposed owner to have so little substance that he would walk away at the first sign of a negative outcome? I know I don't!!
There's more, but it's getting late so I will save them for another day!

In closing, I would say that I would like nothing more than new owners, as the current crop are well past their sell by date, but I don't want a takeover that ultimately costs our club the biggest price.

Keep the faith and keep on supporting OUR club in the best way possible.

18 years ago Bournemouth nearly went bust, last night they beat AC Milan
3-0 in a European competitive match.

15 years ago Ridsfail became a part of PNE, he has achieved what?
That's what happens when fans have "unrealistic ambitions ", they need to get a grip and realise that that sort of achievement doesn't compare to over a decade of steady plodding with a possible relegation as the cherry on top.

Bournemouth, Brighton and Brentford all on there arses....look at them now, look at the attacking football they play, we can only dream off enjoying that, a pure joy to watch....football business models hey, actually having long term vision and planning, signing quality young players with sell on value not our 'model' of signing has beens and worst of all injury prone players....yep the Preston/Ridsdale way....stuck in a time warp...the end cant come soon enough!

Just to further illustrate the above. 🤷‍♂️

Grim times. 2026 has been the worst year supporting PNE in my living memory, coupled with, as an F1 fan that being probably the worst season I can recall also. So not a good year for my favoured sports. Leads me to look at what else I enjoy and do at weekends?

I've found myself in a similar position. Fallen out of love with both of them.

i was never convinced that there was actually a takeover in the offing in the first place, yes interested parties but the silence from all sides apart from that non statement said it all. i hope i'm wrong but i won't believe it until its officially announced.

Could be worse Keith, you could be a Lancs fan

The 60min collapse is every bit as predictable as the spurious final 10lap full safety car "shoot-out"

Its more than never ending Pirelli tyres, stupid engine rules with battery electric crap and obsession over track limits penalties that is killing it off for me.

For PNE, it's always being on the back foot, barely creating chances and games being fucking dire all round

The difference is our principle is “PNEFC is not known for winning anything” they quite literally think along the lines of why bother attempting to change it because it’s not expected we are satisfied to merely exist. Bournemouth had a completely different principle and attitude and that’s why they have won things, they didn’t just accept “can’t and won’t”.
