Club Takeover/Investment

Club Takeover/Investment

Think you need to read that statement again. He said an offer had been made that was acceptable to the Hemmings. He didn’t say it had been formally accepted yet. Based on things happening at other clubs, it probably hasn’t even gone to the Regulator yet
We wouldn't know if its been formally accepted, I am guessing it has , sounds like your on the other opinion that it hasn't, your guessing aswell 😉. The truth is nobody knows.

Except for the fact they would have said, “the owners have formally accepted an offer to buy the club” which is what most clubs say when they’re going through the process

No, we don’t know, but someone on this forum has a friend who works for the EFL and back in August he said that
no takeover paperwork had been submitted by North End..

Subsequent updates since have confirmed that still no paperwork has been submitted…

IFR wont get involved until everything is agreed between both parties.

It can only be agreed in principle. Contracts can't be exchanged until there is regulatory approval. You can agree to buy a house at a given price, but you can't exchange contracts until all of the legal work is done.

The IFR has a deadline of 90 days to determine new owners / officials suitability. This can be extended to 150 days if the applicants have missed out some relevant information. So, that's up to 5 months between agreeing a purchase price and the legal ability to complete. What happens if in the interim something significant happens that could alter the value of the club?

Imagine if the applications are submitted in January/ February time, when the club is in mid-table. They suffer a collapse in form like we have had in the past, and they end up being relegated. That's a material change in circumstances that would be bound to affect the value of the club.

If the IFR knows what it is doing it would ask prospective new owners for business plans which show how they would deal with both no change in League status, and a possible relegation.
