I am Disgusted with the Nerve of the club!

I am Disgusted with the Nerve of the club!

The economy is in recession yet PNE expect people to renew their season tickets for the second time in the space of a year, in order to renew at the same price.

The only reason tickets were sold so late last year was in case we were relegated. Surely you can see teh logic in delyaing it last year rather than having people pay "Championship" prices and we then got relegated.

This year we won't get reelgated so they've reverted to the previous years schemes(they could have waited until the summer, seen if we got promoted(I'm pushing the boundaries a bit with that) then whacked the prices up to Prem levels)

What economy do they operate in?

Oddly enough they seem to operate in an economy seperate to most fans. Apparently the fans are having tough times but football clubs are immune to all economic effects.

Fair enough, but isn't your real complaint that football is overpriced, rather than a complaint against North End? We're cheaper than vast majority of the clubs in the top two leagues and as a club are performing at a level (Play Off contenders) which is probably more than we could reasonablty expect, given our finances (football being only about money).

If you do not think you are getting value for your £665, then you're probably right, but to criticise North End is harsh. They have to try to compete and money enables you to compete.

I ask myself the same questions you're asking every year. Every year I think I'll say stuff it as well, but never do.

Maybe this year, but if I do, it will not be because I am sick of North End, but because I am sick of the greed of the blokes in the shirts on the pitch, the poor match day experience and the crap atmosphere and those are problens which are endemic in the modern game.

Exactly why I gave up my season ticket 2 seasons ago. I found it difficult applauding the lazy bastards when I was doing a 40 hour week for next to nothing in comparrisson.

Football has completely lost its appeal to me now, I've given Preston many years of travelling up and down the country supporting them and my loyalty will never die, but my attendance will & has. Until this country wakes up and smells the coffee and stops spending money it hasnt got football will never change, least of all until the fans all unite and say enough is enough. I have the utmost respect for anyone who travels away these days, especially with out current form 😱, but you must be talking the best part of £80-£100 just to watch an away match if you dont use one of the supporters coaches now with your ticket, travelling etc, its absolutely ridiculous. No blame can be put on our club's doorstep though, they have to try and compete and ticket revenue is obviously their main source of income.

The bottom line to me is there's far more important and enjoyable things in life, and they cost an awful lot less than 90 minutes of overpaid tarts running around a field kicking a little white sack of air!

Welcome to the Shit Fan Club.

Free to join. :gentry:

so, u started "considering" and 2 mins later in your rant you were "finished". There were threads about season tickets, why do you think you`re so important and we need to read same shit starting your own? If you don`t like it, fine, you know the club won`t change their policy....

Leave the man alone you idiot. If you have an opinion on his issue let's hear it otherwise shut the fred up.

Slag me off all you want. I'm not happy with it.

It's becoming obvious to most fans that the prospect of the Premiership is a pipe dream. For some it has been obvious for some time.

The club must think season ticketholders are stupid.

I'm not bothering. I'm just going to pick my games next year.

That's my opinion, sorry if you don't like it.

The last thing I want to do is slag you off, why should I? All you have done is make an informed choice as to where you would rather spend your disposable income.

to pay or not to pay

to pay or not to pay

So much so I am considering not renewing our season tickets and just going to watch the "Big Games" next year......
The economy is in recession.......In future for the "Big" games I'm sure we'll be ok because everyone else usually gets a ticket for sellout games.

Well done Derek!

Good post. Passion. Anger. Reaction. My advice would be to wash yourself clean of any form of loyalty to the people who run the club. There are other ways to represent Preston, not just supporting the town's resident professional outfit. (There is scope for a FC United type venture for anyone passionate about prices and modern football, but let's face it the people who buy season tickets for PNE are well represented by the club badge - a sheep. no initiative but a follow the flock mentality).

Take a stand, pal. I agree. Thousands already have, and we'll be seeing fewer than 8,000 at Deepdale before long. Recession is not to blame. This has been going on for decades. Its called professional football, and we owe it sod all. But we continue to let it suckle on our overdraft and suck us dry.

The only reason to go on the footy is to enjoy yourself. If the price of the ticket ruins it for you, then don't go. You're no less a person for doing so. In fact you demonstrate independent thought, unlike the 10,000 sheep numpties who cough up every June to secure their bargain basement tickets for a season under the guise of "loyalty". It ain't loyalty, its value for money. And it perpetuates the mediocrity served up at Deepdale since Shaw took over from BAXI. Treading water as a football club, while, I'd hazard to guess, Derek Shaw's prosperity has blossomed!!

The painful truth is that football fans are just in it for themselves. If everyone witheld their money and just paid on the gate, in an en mass protest at the way the club sells the season tickets in May and June, and then sells the best players once the tickets have been sold, the club and the shareholders (the mot important people at the club now) would pap their cushioned pants. Its ridiculous, and debt or no debt, Derek Shaw continues to remain in the chair.
That said, he's done a decent job, but just lacks ambition.

Looks like that could be me finished too as Bhaggers looks after my season ticket for the 21 home games a season i don't actually attend !

Still the money saved will go a great way to meeting my tax bill for the end of July.

I wish.

"(they could have waited until the summer, seen if we got promoted(I'm pushing the boundaries a bit with that) then whacked the prices up to Prem levels)"

but arent alot of local prem season tickets cheaper than PNE's championship ones? Therefore wouldnt the prices of season tickets be reduced if we got to the prem?? I doubt it somehow.................

Are we going to the match on the 21st or shall we just stay in the West End to enhance our shit fan reputation?

Do the usual. We'll go on, grab a beer at half time and then if getting beat back to the pub!

One with a NIL inflation - factor, apparantly.

As oposed to everywhere else where inflations' gone up 2% .

Suyrely preferable to raising their prices by 2% ?

Mine was renewed by 10.00a.m. on the first day of sale. Not by me but, as a birthday/mother's day pressie from my lovely son (the one that got beat up last year ) and his equally lovely wife. I am seriously lucky, and very, very happy🙂

Excellent posts, pretty much sum up how I've been feeling for a couple of seasons now.

Not only that, but I have 16 year old daughter who is at College, and the cost for her now that she is in full time education is more than double what it was last year to sit in the same seat.
Sorry but IMHO they can stuff it as far as I'm concerned. They've relied on me far too much in the past sorry.
Yes we have a good manager, but he has signed a number of players in his time, and the team are average to say the least.
The
y have been lucky at home and dire away from home for me. That is not good enough. I've had enough of it.
Sorry but that's me finished as a season ticketholder. In future for the "Big" games I'm sure we'll be ok because everyone else usually gets a ticket for sellout games.

I've every sympathy for someone who has a growing ( age and/or number ) family.

But these problems are by ono means unique to Season Ticket holders. Perhaps you could re-locate to somewhere behind one of the goals - if you presently are in one of the side-stands ? If you are already a BKS or AKTE member - I'm sorry.

Every manager - even Fergie - can sign his fair share of failures/duffers.

Yes - I 'd agree it has been a bit of a dirge , more often than not , this season.

TBH though - we were heading down under Simpson & this Guy has improved on that Cliff-Hanger that we endured then - surely you agree?

He's bought that Wallace & Nolan - 2 good 'uns. He's been let down by a couple of Midfield 'enigmas' - - or APATHETIC feKERS to you and me - in Carter & Whaley 9 who were here when he came & on long contracts.

Do you see them staying? It's got to be case of "Sort-it-out or Ship-Out"

As mentioned before - 2% inflation is just that.

So in reality prices are cheaper than last year. FACT.

I can only ask you - and others to think again.
