I guess that is why he has played for Leeds (when they were not crap), Manchester United, England, and Newcastle United. (Have I missed any other team he has played for?).

Every team needs toughness in the middle of the park, some can offer energy, skill, and workrate, but not all can offer toughness.

This isnt a go at you mate but can i just ask you a few questions?

1. Why do certain sections of your support think its 'loyal' and hard to stand there for the whole game with no clothes on? I would call that thick.

2. Why do you think your the best supporters in the land? you averaged 12,000 under Ardilles before Keegan took over first time round. And you being called as such is the biggest myth in English football.

3. Last nights empty seats chant was a bit ironic dont you think? Theres been thousands of empty seats at each of your home games this season.
 
Preston gets more tourism that Newcastle. Fact.

We have 17 main attraction, whereas you have only 2.

We get over 500,000 visitors per year. You get 14,000.

As for league one, don't think so. We won't go down.

We did ok last night. Unlike you I don't expect too much from my team. I've been supporting them through several divisions now, for over 15 years.

If we beat the shiters from Lasher Land next week, I'll be made up.

Now, on to Alan Smith. I fail to see what he did last night bar argue with the ref and chuck in a few tackles. I was a bit concerned about him, but he was poor, so was Haerewood.
 

I also couldn't make out what his role was at times, first half he did make a couple of forward runs though one of those was to take out Sedgwick and the other a shot that went wide! apart from that he sat in the middle doing very little..😕

1. It's usually a small section that do it, i know i don't do it. The TV camera's seem to love putting them on TV which i think encourages more of them to do it, especially after a few pints. Not really doing much harm is it.

2. I think anyone getting 43,44 and 45000 in this league deserves abit credit. Alot of people like myself were young when Keegan took over, i was 7 i think and caught the bug of going to the game no matter what division we are in. Look back throughout history and We've always had good support.

3. We do have approx 6 - 7 thousand empty seats every gme, but you'll find that 90% of these are in the posh end of the ground in the milburn stand where Ashleysits etc. Reason for this is Ashley has put the prices up for these seats to such a high level, that alot of business men who did have seats here, refuse to pay it. If he put the prices down to the normal price throughout the ground for this area (you's will see which area i mean when you's visit), the normal fan could afford to buy the tickets and we'd actually fill the ground. But the fat cunt is that thick, he fails to realise this.

My dad says in the late 70s, early 80s you struggled to get much more than 12,000 on.

This is backed up by the attendance from a game Budgie rustler says he went to in the 79-80 season on another thread.

I take great issue with arrogant, ex-prem teams giving it the big one and demanding they deserve respect.

That is a complete myth, no infact it is complete and utter bollocks, that seems to tag along with Newcastle Supporters.

Your gates hovered about 10-15,000 for about 20 years. How far are you going back, bloody hell even North End used to get 30,000 every week at one point.

However you do get good attendances, and have a large fan base, after all Newcastle/Gateshead is a bloody big place, and the North East area only has 2 Premier League clubs, and for many years only one. However we have about 9 Premier league teams within 40 miles.

Your LEAGUE gates have held up very well so far this season, however your league cup attendances have been piss poor, and I would say a massive increase in away support will of helped.

If you get promotion, and I fully expect you will, then your hardcore support will stay with them, and you wont have any long term effects. However if you did stay down, do you not think you would lose a massive number of supporters? Trust me, there is only so many times people will pay to watch the same old shites in this league.
 
For the record, our attendances were down in the late 80's etc at a time where football in general was poorly supported and a crowd of 18000 was a fairly decent attendance for the period.

Hard as it is for other teams to accept, we are a very very well supported club, with good supporters on the whole, sure there are a section who are twats, but thankfully they left when we got relegated leaving us 10000 or so down, and better off without them.

44,000 for a championship club is just shocking isn't it? 🙄

And our away support is incredible, 3500 for a monday night televised game in November is excellent by anyones standards.

Knock our support all you like but it is the envy of many clubs at this level and the one above.

Alan Smith may be a twat, but he would walk into your team and pretty much all others in the championship, and his celebration showed passion and joy at the goal....so fucking what? Get over it.

No, not really, especially since you have been in the premierhsip for god knows how long, only got ONE other prem team within an hours drive of yourselves.

I don't think anyone was trying to knock your crowd, simply reminding you that you aint ALWAYS had crowds of over 40,000 on.

The game has been played, you won. Well done. This myth that its hurting us because the big, bad lads from Newcastle beat us is a pile of shite. I'm much more concerned with next Monday's match ta.

Leave us in peace to wallow in the fact we are a piss poor club, with shit support and no prospects, thanks. 🙄

You're an angry bunch of supporters you lot aren't you? For the record i enjoyed the trip to your place, thought your ground was nice, and although your support was small, the atmosphere was better than many i've experienced. I have no belief that the defeat hurt you more or less than any other this season, am sure next mondays game matters many times more.

And of course we aint always had crowds of over 40,000, our stadium only expanded above that in 1997.

I've read a piece of wank blog from some arrogant tart, saying that we should be honoured to host you, someone else saying that our club and city is shit and another saying that you should be praised for getting crowds of over 40,000 on.

Stay in this division, or drop a few lower for a couple of years, see how you go on then.
