Ali McCann

Ali McCann

Seriously difficult to pick which of the 4 first-choice midfielders misses out against West Brom.

I guess McCann has been put through his paces the most, but he'll have had a decent enough recovery period.

I'd actually say Whiteman is undroppable at the minute.

I wouldn’t say he’s undroppable on form. I think much of the clamour around his form this season is mainly due to the contrast of his performances for the last 2-3 years compared to this season.

The role he plays is the least taxing of the three due to the amount of ground the other two midfielders cover which means he’s probably the least likely to be dropped for fatigue reason.

I think he's looking more of a leader this year, now he's clearly fit again and in form. It's hard to say whether a midfield of McCann and the two young loanees can organise themselves in the same way.

Sometimes you just need an older head in there.

Indeed - with a strike partnership of Osmajic or might it be Jebbison and Dobbin upfront and Devine roaming free in support it becomes a question of which two of Whiteman, McCann and Armstrong play in central midfield with presumably given the current injury situation Small and Vukcevic flanking them. But we are hardly short of options there since we also have Frokjaer and Thordarson and at some point presumably Thompson. In fact you can add Brady if he is ever fit again to that list because he is basically finished as a wing-back other than maybe in cameos as a defensive sub on the left and an attacking sub on the right.

It is all a bit unbalanced given that in the absence of Valentin and Potts we only have Small and Vukcevic for the wide positions with the first of those playing in a position that doesn't make the best of his talents. But that is how it is for the moment.

That doesn’t make sense. We don’t usually play that late. Surely it should be McCann in the midfield?

Unfortunately, the people who start our chants don't stop to think about stuff like this to make the chant fit better.

Further case in point the the Thierry Small song were half of it is the original song. Other clubs are making the whole chant about the player but we're just singing "Sway" for half of it.

It's shit.

Agreed

Could do with leaving Blackpool out of player chants who've never had a connection to them. It looks like we are too preoccupied with the Lashers.
Also, why do folk always put 'the' before 'Blackpool' in chants?
Football fans chant about hating rivals, stop the press!

Also, probably just to make it fit into the song. It’s really not that deep.

let's not lose all our tribalistic tradition!
Still got Rovers & I'm betting Dingles too next season.
I doubt that we'll see that other lot except maybe the League Cup for the next few years. At the rate they'd going they will be dropping again.
Singing about them is so pointless.
