Andrew Davies to return?

Andrew Davies to return?

Im not saying Davies was the second coming, just that he wasnt the antichrist.

He wasn't the Antichrist, but he was shit. The defence went to pieces with him in the side. We looked nervous, disjointed and very vulnerable. Compare this to when Wayne Brown came in on loan and we looked the exact opposite. I'm not saying he almost cost us the play-offs or any of that nonsense but I know a liability when I see one. He's a poor footballer.

Like I said previously, Davies was recovering from an injury. Wayne Brown was a part of Hulls team until they got turned over by Wigan so he had a pre season and a few games behind him.

Plus I see double standards when people are hailing Irvine for not playing Trotman with SSL because of his youth and inexperience, but totally condemn Davies when he was in a similar position.

Im just saying that, to be fair to Davies, there are a few extenuating circumstances as to why he was a failure here and that there could be a bit more to it then hes simply just shit.

With this attitude, say we did sign him again, he's doomed to failure again because the fans would be on his back from day one.

I think people were just a little disappointed- better was expected from a former Premiership player really. He's not a wet behind the ears rookie.

Why take this lad on loan after sending Trotman out on loan ourselves? Surely just easier to keep our own youngster and make him a better player than borrowing everyone elses ffs.

id rather have Davies than Chilvers.
put chilvers up against a decent striker with a bit of pace and he's useless.
Davies is a similar defender but has the pace to keep up with the opposition.

Quite correct, Davies made a couple of mistakes and was instantly branded as shit - Chilvers, Mawene and Lonergan have made fucking shitloads over the years and can do no wrong.

He came into a defence that was struggling a bit last season and struggled to settle in. Shit, however, he is not.

Absolutely pathetic some people's attitude towards him.

My gripe with him is that before he had even kicked a ball for us he was on Whites World criticising our lack of communication at the back. Then, ironically, it was a communication breakdown on his part that gifted Forest the points.

If he had just got on with it, tried and not been good enough then you can live with that but he seemed to think that he was doing us a favour just by being here.

Good point. He talked himself up like he was Franco Baresi. Seem to remember him doing similar when he returned to Stoke as though he had turned our season around.

to be fair, it was after the Norwich game he said that, so he had kicked a ball, but the irony isnt lost on me.

Prior to him coming in on loan we had lost one in six.

When Davies was playing our back four looked a complete mess at times.

He was shit at Southampton and shit against Sheff Wednesday before he went off injured.

Our record with him on the pitch was awful.

Norwich 1-0
Southampton 0-3
Sheff Wednesday 0-1
Forest 1-2
Palace 1-2

3 points out of 15 with him on the pitch.
Lonergan, Mawene and Chilvers all have far better records than that.

IMO he was poor and the statistics back me up. I thought "Albertan II" could do better than that.🙂

Any new player or players brought in before the tranfer window closes will have nearly a fortnight to adjust to the training and players due to there being a 14 day break from Saturday. Last time when Andrew Davies arrived he was thrown straight into the deep end without any preperation at all if he comes back I think he will be given more time to settle first. I thought although he made some mistakes he also had some good parts to his game as well.

Teffers didn't help by so publically pointing the finger at him, something he did a lot to various players early last season.

I do like the way you make things up to back up your crap arguments. No doubt you'll repeat this enough times to convince it actually happened when it didn't. And if he did actually point the finger at Davies, its no wonder, he was useless.

But in the interest of fairness; if Lonergan did the finger pointing thing a lot you should have no problem finding five examples, I await to see them.........

Andrew Davies was nothing short of a disaster during his spell at Deepdale. He seemed to consider himself a cut above his mere Championship teamates and was only here for some match fitness before he would be back at the Britannia in the starting eleven.

Unfortunately for both him and Preston North End, he appeared not to know his arse from his elbow and looked every inch the idiot that ran into Lee Camp at Deepdale whilst at Derby, which allowed Nugent to score the softest goal of his career.

A quick search of the forum brings up a discussion from the time he was here and highlights just how bad he was - Click...
