I can't take any sentence that starts with "my sources" seriously.
are we getting left behind?
Spot on Alby, and lets remember our very own Tom Finney wanted to move to italy but in those the days if the club said no, it was no. How things have changed. I remember being staggered at the vast amount birmngha City paid for trevor francis. 100k!
Which have now changed to the vast sums of £50m for Torres £47m for Tevez and £80m for Ronaldo plus all the add ons

The problem started in the early sixties when George Eastham won his case in court to be allowed to leave Newcastle to go to Arsenal. That was the key case that gave players the top hand in future relationships with clubs. Prior to that a player could not leave a club without permission.
The abolition of the maximum wage was the next big factor, and I can remember the shock when Tommy Trinder the then chairman of Fulham announced that he had agreed to pay Johnny Haynes the magnificent sum of 100 pounds per week to keep him at Craven Cottage.
That is when all this madness started, and it has got progressively worse and now with Sky pumping in the money, nothing in football makes sense any more.
Before George Eastham and the abolition of the minum wage the clubs had a disproportionate amount of power. I think we then had a happy medium but the Bosman ruling swung it to the other extreme where the players now have all the power. Especially as this brought in the Agents, big time.
You are one of the only people to actually post smart comments on these forums, and you are right, we have signed some good players to be perfectly honest. I'm sure Brown knows ashbee well, for obvious reasons, and i'm sure we will have a win tonight against barnsley.Agree completely. The players that Brown & Horton have brought in are a leap ahead IMHO. All things considered, we have made some very good signings. I mean, come on, we have just signed Hull City's Captain FFS! Plus Ellington, Linganzi, Clarke, and a 26 yr old USA international from a Premier League club!!
On top of that, we haven't sold any of our best players.

Yes well you might like to review the filth you posted on the Bristol murder before claiming to be so smart.

Sorry, can you point that out to me, a link maybe?
When, by contrast, you see the Lashers signing Puncheon (a real steal for them, I thought), the very tidy Reid, a Belarussian kid with a decent pedigree and not selling Adam, it makes me want to weep.
How times change. We're now years ahead of you. If only you'd heard of Mr Adam before we stole him from Rangers. 🙂

Wasn't Trevor Francis the first £1m player?

I too thought 'everyone off' Francis was the first £1m player.

Trevor Francis was the first British 1million pound player, signed from Birmingham City for Brian Clough's Notts Forest of course.
Knowing how old Rafael works, he'll know that info. but will probably have something up his sleeve that Birmingham paid to Francis 100k as a schoolboy. Can't see it myself, but you never know with the silly old fart and his little comments trying to reel people in.
Either that or he's been drinking heavily again, mind you he did post that at tea time and it's usually after 9pm his post get even more deluded than normal!
