I'd argue we've looked better without Browne for some time. Even when we topped the league in November 19 Browne was mainly on the bench playing 2nd fiddle to Gallagher/Johnson. Our form dipped when he was re-introduced. I don't think being shunted round from position to position has helped but there's been very few good performances from him for some time.

It was less about Browne than it was about the Ledson/Whiteman partnership.

They should, by all rights, be our first choice midfield by a mile. Browne has only been a consistent performer as a 10.

They desperately need to show some consistency in that partnership, and that this isn't another false dawn. Same with DJ, for that matter.

Quite. Our resources for those three central midfield positions are Ledson, Whiteman, Johnson and Browne first of all with Bayliss and then who - Potts, Thomas, Leigh? I am not certain. But after Saturday Ledson, Whiteman and Johnson are the first choice trio and it is up to them to cement themselves in position.

It's no coincidence that they had one of their best games as a trio, when the back 3 (probably under the direction of BFG) were pushed 15 yards further up the pitch, allowing them to connect to the front 2....

Browne is now a half-decent back up - if his head hasn't gone.

Johnson should be played attacking mid. It is comfortably his best position and he should be the first on the team sheet along with Bauer.

DJ played 10, badly, all through last season. I blame the tactics, more than the player, honestly, but he's not been out of position. If it continues, and we keep playing decent football, we're a better side with DJ pulling the strings.

But I'm not convinced that we're able to count on that just yet.
 
Peterborough will be in and around the bottom three so I'm going to wait till we play mid-table opposition before making any bold claims about any of our players.

As yet, we haven't played anyone who will trouble the top half and we only 3pts.

I want to see how they perform when the owner isn't there. And that includes the management team and Chairman/advisor/chief scout
