Much happier today, moved the ball and pressed quicker, for a big part of the game. Browne and DJ allowed to play their more attacking role, resulting in both players scoring. I actually thought McGuire attacked well off the shoulder of Barnsley's back line, in the first half. Unfortunately his end product is lacking. Good first game under Ryan Lowe.
Ben Whiteman
Class player
Honestly mate - completely clueless you are!
All the game we played through Ben Whiteman…. He was like a quarter back getting on the ball! - on a wet, boggy day like today I was surprised how brave we were with the ball at times and Ben Whiteman was all over it…. If you think Ben Whiteman had a bad game today, in conditions like today then honestly, please do one!
Deepdale is full of clueless idiots like you who have probably never even played the game.

How people cannot see this lad’s quality is baffling. Drugs hazing things too much perhaps?

Christ, 87% pass accuracy. That is pretty great. I thought most of the players played well today. The problem came from a)it's a massive change of style and will take a while to bed in b) the players were almost too faithful to the play it out thing Lowe wants to do. The goal came after players had several opportunities to put their foot through it and they didn't which shows they are already totally on board with Lowe's philosophy.
As for the sneering people are doing about beating second bottom, we've been losing to second bottom for years. If Lowe has finally worked out a way to beat the shitter teams (Barnsley were decent in spells today) he's into something.

Cut above? Why because he constantly passed sideways? 1.5 million for a player who has nothing on McKenna, Gregan, Rankine, O Neil or Gallagher. And yes I'm allowed my opinion as I pay my money.Of course. However, this one seems so far removed from reality it is untrue. Surely this opinion has just been put out there to encourage debate/arguments. Whiteman was a cut above today. In my humble opinion obviously.
On a fairly shit pitch by Deepdale standards too.Christ, 87% pass accuracy. That is pretty great.
He absolutely bossed it.

Even if you don’t pay any money to watch us, you are allowed an opinion. It is just very clear that your interpretation of the beautiful game is fundamentally different to the vast majority of supporters. Which is fine. I’m just glad I don’t have to sit next to you and listen to your opinions as the game is going on.Cut above? Needs the bar setting high as he's capable of being even better or even the best center mid in the league imo so I expect the manager will be demanding a lot of him and rightly so

Without Whiteman in the team Browne and DJ wouldn't be able to do the things they did against Barnsley. I really enjoyed watching his performance.

Totally agree as he is a very good player. For me yesterday Browne and DJ stood out as better but may be simply as they did the most attacking aspects and both scored. With Ledson and a very good McCann we definitely have a strong centre.
I think we have a strong centre three but little in reserve. Need some wingbacks and another striker and ball playing centre half.
I think we should get Bayliss back in Jan, and play him the reserves as a wing back, he is only 22 and his natural position is DM so I believe. He is still in contract for another 18mths, never been used, let Lowe look at him and decide before letting him go for nowt.Totally agree as he is a very good player. Bayliss isn’t a DM from what I’ve seen, more a box to box midfielderI think we should get Bayliss back in Jan, and play him the reserves as a wing back, he is only 22 and his natural position is DM so I believe. McKenna’s nickname was ‘The Crab’. And he got a Fuck load of stick for it…Cut above? Why because he constantly passed sideways? 1.5 million for a player who has nothing on McKenna, Gregan, Rankine, O Neil or Gallagher. And yes I'm allowed my opinion as I pay my money.
There’s an awful lot of revisionism going on in your post…
Unwarranted stick I might add. But BW's passing is far more progressive.McKenna’s nickname was ‘The Crab’. And he got a Fuck load of stick for it…

Whiteman has been the nearest “work in progress” replacement for Gally. His range of passing and passing accuracy is excellent and he’s starting to add free kick goals to his repertoire. The work he’s doing with PG is starting to show. We don’t have the funds to buy a ready made replacement for gally so we have to develop our own. I love his calmness and the way like a quarterback he can spray passes accurately. He set up a lot of the moves yesterday and links with the wing backs. He is going to be a really good player but then people slated Pearson when he first arrived!
