Today was absolutely shocking to put it politely but I like to think we will line up stronger next week against Wolves
Gibson, Clarke, McConnell (if signed) Mills (if signed) any any other signings if made early in the week will be available for Saturday. Plus add in Leroy and Small who would have had a full weeks of training and we look stronger.
You drop Valentin for either Offiah or Clarke
You drop Thompson for either Leroy or McConnell
You drop Lang and for Small or Mills and shift Devine back in the middle
You drop Osmajic for Erabi

You’ve got too much confidence that he will do those things though. He could’ve moved Devine into the middle today and used Lang on the right. He could’ve started Erabi over Osmajic. He could’ve started Offiah for Valentin

He chose that starting XI, it wasn’t forced into him. What makes you think that’ll change next week?

They will be, sponsors were all over the boards.

Serious bakery that, my mates from Bolton she got em to bring 60 pies for her do once, I put two of the spares in my bag.
Cheers for the name.

I'm guessing the Vegan option is The Classic Vegetable whilst I'm also going to order 4 Cheese and Jalapeño Pasties as well.

Today wasn't an anomaly, it's what PH does consistently.

The Offiah one in particular is a shocker.

I understand Pol had some good games last season, his drop off of late is quite shocking, but Offiah should be one of the first names on the team sheet.

Didn't watch the whole game as I was too peed off at 2-0 down but the Sky report has us being pretty much completely outplayed.

Far from our best team (hopefully) I know but looking at their teamsheet they were eminently beatable so to lose to a team who are expected to struggle is a bit of a concern.

The more pertinent question would be why wasn’t it our best team?! I’ve generally been reluctant to criticise PH but today’s selection was inviting the inevitable. Changes were also made far too late, as usual. A blind man could have noted that Pol was getting rinsed and should have been replaced after 30 minutes. Good managers don’t shy away from these decisions. Sadly, PH generally won’t make any subs until 60 minutes have elapsed (64 today) thus inevitably leaving less time to recover the deficit. His comments about seeming to “catch us cold” beggar belief. Any manager worth their salt would know that local rivals back in the same league for the first time for some years are going to come out of the blocks quick!

We need to see a very different eleven for Wolves or there’s a danger of it being a miserable start to the new campaign.

Hopefully he has some common sense and knows he has to change it but then again I can see him sticking with a similar team. Wouldn’t surprise me if he goes back to his favourite formation which would be total PH

As @Longshanks says, that’s how he’s been since he joined us. I see no reason for that to change now

It's possibly because coaches and managers of some experience, will not make the wholesale changes suggested above, in the next match. There'd be too much to lose. ( I agree there's already been too many bad decisions in terms of team selection over the past 20 or so matches).

On Saturday I do not want to see Pol, Thompson, Lindsay or offside Osmajic. We really need an aerially dominate CB that can actually move to partner either Gibson or Offiah.

We’ve proved the last couple of seasons that it’s not how you start - it’s how you finish.

I honestly couldn’t give that much of a shit about the result today. It’s always horrific on here after a loss, but I’m surprised so many seem to be distraught about today’s game. We are a squad in transition, new players and a different formation. We know there are more quality additions to come. I’m really not sure what people expected today. We’re a work in progress.

The fact the takeover is clearly now happening and we’re spending proper money to build a competitive squad is far more important than a lousy result/performance in our first game of the season.

Yesterday was one of the best days as a PNE fan for decades and as long as we see clear progress over the next few months I’m staying positive.

Can’t remember having a manager so bad at motivating his team for local games. Even Lowe managed it. We’ve still only managed to beat Burnley in the cup, and we’ve got another 5 to come this year

The baffling thing is that I would have understood if he had stuck with his three at the back today and then aim to switch next week, when Clarke and Gibson will be available.

I can not fatham for the life of me how anyone on the coaching staff can't see what we all can with that defence.

He talks about them being experienced players who are usually reliable is a nonsense.

I almost feel bad slagging off Hughes because he has been a decent player but he isn't good enough at this level anymore.

Storey is hit and miss but again I don't think he gets in any other championship team.

The least said about Lindsay the better.

Yesterday was a positive day and then today felt like it was inevitable as Thanos.

On a positive note, Leroy looks a player, great touch and had a real confidence about his play, he will be a massive improvement on the previous captain.

Jusef looks like he just has that knack of making runs into the right areas and a natural goal scorer, admittedly its early days.

Better days will be coming but I can't help think that Paul will be under pressure early doors and rightly takes the majority of the flak for today.

To be fair @Gordon Bennett , I think most people are angry at the way we got beat, not that we actually got beat,
That starting 11 was honking, then not to do anything about at half time was ineptitude of Ridsdale levels.
We are in transition and he probably gets a free pass next week against Wolves, but tactics and performances have to get better very quickly.
I have said previously today is the first day I have really had a pop at Hecky, but the blame for today is squarely with him.

Agree totally with that, I can handle getting beat but the manner of that today was awful.

Very similar to the Rovers 2-1 when Potts scored late and we had the stonewall penalty turned down at the death, we only decided to play for the last ten minutes, allowing the entirely of the rest of the game to pass us by.

Osmajic had one shot well saved.

Obviously he made a mistake for his other chance, trying to pass, but that doesn’t make him a bad finisher. Realistically, he’s just a bit thick and should try and keep everything as simple as possible.
Keeper was out quick for the osmajic chance, made it difficult.
