In 1966 I was born on Deepdale Road in the old Preston Infirmary ( before it relocated to Sharoe Green in the mid 80s) so my destiny as a football supporter was set in stone the minute I exited the womb. And I attended my first North End game in 1973 vs Crystal Palace (Mel Holden! Alan Spavin!) - and, of course, a lifetime of disappointment and woe soon ensued- interrupted by a small number of highlight including promotions, play-offs and promotion pushes.

Just wondering if any forum-ites are in the same boat? Born on Deepdale, attached to the club by birth? Or were you born on Deepdale Road but had parents who were fans of other clubs - not that you would be on here in that event.

I now live in Dumfries & Galloway but the connection runs deeps - like North End chose me, not the other way round.

Would be interested to hear others experiences.

Born and brought up in Deepdale, ten years before you.

I was born in the same hospital in 1984. I was doomed from birth as my parents put a notice in the LEP stating I was North End's next 'midfield maestro' (anything but! 🤣 ).

Apart from a brief couple of years living in/near Plungy, I was brought up in Deepdale and North End have always been heavily ingrained in my life, although it did actually take me a while to 'properly' get into football.

Also had PE lessons on the plastic pitch as I went to nearby St Gregs Primary.

1969, born in the same place. I will always remember my dad telling me he walked home in the early hours after I was born with my mum’s empty case and was stopped by the police on suspicion of going equipped for burglary!

I was never allowed to go on North End because of all that surrounded the game at that time, although my dad still went. I was allowed for odd games in the late 70s but it was the advent of Junior Whites in 1981 that led to me being a regular and I’ve missed virtually no games since.

I was born in the same hospital 70 years ago today. My dad told me my fist game was 1959 but I have no recollection of I do remember smatterings of Sir Tom’s last season
Yeah, my first home game v Palace was quite thrilling although the details are hazy now. We lived in Leyland and would set off at 2.30pm and still be on for KO as traffic was nothing like it is now...

I think I remember kids were lifted over the turnstiles back then. You could watch for free from around 4.30 pm or so if you wanted. Loos were godawful. Programmes were ace. Micky Baxter, Haselgrave and a few others were customers in my Dad's butchers so we got the odd free tickets, too.

I was born in the PRI in July 1960 and we lived in Lincoln Street , off Peel Hall Street which is off Deepdale Road...

At the age of 7/8 I used to walk to the ground at about 4-20pm when there was a home game just in time for the gates opening to let early leavers out.

That was my first introduction to North End before I started going to watch full games at the age of 9

Really evocative memories - the grassroots, social atmosphere on match day : it couldn't be further than the Man City global scandal (as an example of billionaire modern footy) if it tried...

Yes, born in the same hospital in 1965, lived in Deepdale until I was 18, used to wait outside the ground on match days until they opened the gates about 20 minutes before the end of the match then would sneak on to the paddock, Bobby Charlton was player manager, hooked ever since

Born in 1946, as far as I know at the time the midwife popped round to your house, had a brew before helping you enter into this world.
There was no NHS till 1948 but I suppose they could have whipped mi mam off to the PRI, but as I went on my first game 1953/54 season and the last the season before last, I reckon I've put the miles in.
