Born RPI 1981 . A brigger by birth . Lived on Tyne street . Very end house . School at st Mary’s and Benedict’s then brownedge . First season was 1987 6 years old . Used to sit in the west stand . But saw my school friend in the paddock and there was passage way you could get to the paddock from there . First real memory of a game was 1989 play offs vs port vale .
Born On Deepdale Road
That’ll presumably be where they had the Preston Pleasure Gardens - elephants, camels, a menagerie and a polar bear! Even by the standards of Victorian England it was deemed cruel and transitioned into a running track, rugby pitches and then a speedway track (George Formby rode there).I’ve just done a bit of googling Harry…..
Here’s what I found :
“ Speedway in Preston was actually hosted at Faringdon Park rather than the later Preston greyhound stadium “
That’s not to say that they didn’t once host Speedway at the Greyhound track , it’s just not recorded on the internet…

Lucky it wasn't Stuart Hall 😁I remember Granada Reports putting on a fun day event at the stadium one day when I was a kid, a bit like It's a knockout, and I managed to chat to presenter Bob Greaves, who was a lovely fella.
I was born in the old infirmary too. The area where the hospital was, has changed so much over the years, but I love driving past what is left of it, every other Saturday, in amazement at how beautiful the old building was, as was most of the architecture of bygone days.

Do you remember the iron lung machines on show near Meadow Street annexe?I was born in the old infirmary too. This reminded me that my daughter was born on Friday Sept 16th 1983 at the PRI and the following day I went to visit her Mum at visiting time but made sure I left about 3pm and got to Deepdale for 3-10pm....Also born at the Infirmary. Saturday 25th March 1978 at 16:30. During which PNE were playing a thrilling 0-0 draw with Chesterfield 😂
I neednt have bothered , we played out a 0-0 against Hull , Steve Elliott missed a penalty...
Can't say I do. Maybe I saw them, but didn't realise what they where supposed to be. I am a bit of a thicko!Do you remember the iron lung machines on show near Meadow Street annexe?
Born in PRI (by Caesarian section apparently) on 6 February 1966 and spent my early childhood in Moorhey Crescent Bamber Bridge. My mother was the PNE connection. My father was Scottish and supported Hibs. No wonder he was a miserable bastard.
Nick is my hubby and has never been called Nicky 😀. Also not big for his age but the twins stood out as they were so good at football and being identical twins!Mark and Nicky were twins, very big for their age. Mark is Phil Jones's (Man U) Dad.
What years were you at RHHS?First time on here. Was five when I was first taken on PNE by my dad in 1950. Sat on a little stool on the grass next to goals with the LEP photographer. Got moved by Willie Cunningham or Joe Walton when they took goal kicks. Dad picked you up after the match, having stood at the back of the Town End. Saw us nearly win the 1st Division and Finney’s last league game against Luton.
76 years on, still have a season ticket. Still waiting for the halcyon days to return.
Think I taught some of you at RHHS.
Cheers.
