Can Westley Learn?

Your posts are becoming more and more unreadable. You obviously have a lot of good stuff to say, but it gets lost in your posts. Please put a bit more care into how you type so that we can better understand what you have to say. Thank you.

Post how you like surf, this is a forum not an English Language Exam! I know my iPad and Mobile phone aren't necessarily as good as a keyboard of ease of typing. But do you really need the Nazi Police picking you up. I have picked you up previously amount your use of grand after posting an amount. But your post above, even though a little difficult to read, we can clearly understand your points 🙂

A brilliant OP. You're bang on the money.

Sadly, I dont believe he can learn and improve. His reaction to the loss of Keane and laird and everything he's done and and said since betray a fundamental lack of ability. He's tried hard but is woefully out of his depth.

He can offer nothing more. Lets move on.

What?

The only thing I now want him to learn is how to pack his bags and leave our club.

Saturday was the point of no return for me. His and dino's behaviour towards the fans, provocation or not, in the previous home game should have been more than enough to send them packing.

Saturday was the last straw, no improvement, Byrom ahead of welsh and a defender on as an attacker whilst a good one is sat on the bench was truly mind boggling like most of the changes in the last twenty odd games.

I feel that our noses are really being rubbed in it the fact he was one, not sacked straight after that match and two he is actually still here today.

It's bloody heart breaking to see thirty years of progress at this club being completely destroyed in three years.

I really do not know what the clubs management are trying to do other than further wind up the fans and even more stay away from the club. Once broken that bond will be hard to repair if not impossible.

Lol, exactly my point! Even I can't get my point across when I am trying to from my iPad. Now why did I get rid of my dongle for my laptop, it used to be so much easier.

The point was irrelevant as it is, but here goes.
He used to type out money costs as £15000 grand .

What I don't get is how people on here are quick to jump down people's throats for poor vocabulary ; punctuation and the likes, while others on here are permitted to swear, type complete lies etc. that's enough from my soap box .

Can Westley Learn, not a chance, if the performance and result was not bad enough on Saturday, we then get his post match interview, our 18 chances to their 6, their goal lead a charmed life, what do I have to be worried about etc etc.
If all this was not bad enough we then get more of his verbal dihorea about our present situation.

"But my personal view is that the club is intelligent enough to understand that when you're in the building process, you have to build."
"When you're building a house - if rain comes in because the roof isn't on yet, you've got to be patient and give people time to do the job.
"I've always built winning teams and I've got no doubt I'll go on to build a winning team here. But I understand everybody's frustration about the results we're getting."
"The difference between ourselves and winning on a consistent basis is very slight. The players are evolving and developing.
"Results are disappointing and I'm not going to pretend they're anything otherwise, but the team are playing for each other and for the football club.
"But at the same time, you have to say Shrewsbury's goal led something of a charmed life. On a different day, we end up winning 3-0 or 4-0, rather than losing 2-1."

Sorry Mr Westley you will never learn, I wish for one you would just keep your mouth shut, but more importantly get out of our club now and take your backroom staff with you. 😡

At the start of the season we were playing nice passing football, creating chances and giving a few teams a good hiding. Since the loss of both Keane and Laird the pretty passing football has stopped. The hoof ball has been more and more noticeable with every passing game. The loss of Sodje and the lack of a quality target man makes this style of play dire to watch and creates little in goal chances.
I believe that Westley has gone back to what he believes is the way to get results, which is the same style as what failed us last season.

So as Surf said, no he can't learn from his mistakes. He feels he's not wrong and it isn't his mistakes that are causing the problem. Even the penalty from Saturday was his fault. Would Buchanan have made that challenge?
In a word no.
Westley is a bully, which I could go with if it got results but his lack of football nous and his poor choice in coaches has let him down badly.

Trouble with bullies is they have to be bloody good to get away with it.

As for learning, I can see Westley as the type who thinks that others just don't 'get' him.

Difficulty is, when you drill through all the management speak, there's nothing to get.

A team that is rigid, stiff, primitive and short on ideas - they say that teams are often reflections of the man who leads them, and...QED.

His time obviously is not up. We still have him as manager.
As such unless there is a master plan with increased investment. I'll stick with him.

Grayson, Coyle, Mellon, Davies No guarantees, no cheap option there no previous manager has ever managed North End under these circumstances. FACT

I'm sure Westley is learning every day, as is any manager. I agree with you that the best option is to stick with him.

He won't learn, still plays players out of position played a semi fit Byrom instead of Welsh on Saturday, no disrespect to Davies but we have a full back on the bench in Buchanan, who obviously is not rated by Westley and the final coup de grace, throwing on Huntington at the end so we could hammer ever more aimless balls up to the front men. Takes me back to the good old days when Graham Hawkins ended up playing centre forward and that didn't work either.
As for training on the pitch it's hoof ball at home from now on in.

I don't doubt that he's learning, in an 'Early Learning Centre' sort of way.

Trouble is that 12 months on he still hasn't got to grips with how the lego works - a trip back down to remedial class would be best for all concerned.

When do you think we might begin to benefit from this learning?

I'd hope there'd be positive signs before the end of this season. I certainly expect PNE to be challenging for a top six spot in League One come October, providing GW is still the manager.
He'll have had two full close seasons by the time 2013-14 kicks off and that is sufficient to get things the way he wants them. If the team are still in lower mid-table come this November I'm afraid it will be time for all parties to agree it just isn't working, and then it would be Goodbye Mr Westley.
I know there are some who proclaim they aren't interested in what happens at other clubs; an attitude I always feel is rather blinkered and ridiculous. Grimsby Town's management duo took over at Blundell Park about a year before Westley arrived at Deepdale, so they're a year ahead of him. Three matches into this season The Mariners had two points and The Fishy was similar to, though not quite so vitriolic as PSG now; it was generally accepted Hurst &Scott were one match from the sack. They won 4-1 and Grimsby are now top of the league, with H&S being linked to bigger jobs.
Westley might not crack it and be gone before 2013 is out but for now I maintain it is too soon to know.

This is the fundamental question that Hemmings and Ridsdale should be asking him to determine if he stays or goes. They should be asking him some tough questions and seeing if he has the capacity to admit mistakes, find solutions and change things.

Westley thinks we played well on Saturday, this tells me that either I know absolutely nothing about football or that he is full of shit.

Disappointingly, I read the Beavon interview where he said we played well! Are they serious or just trying to mug us off?

Agree. We were improved on Saturday but were still far from good enough and the fact that Westley still believes we are close to winning or going on a run is remarkable. Bailey Wright said in an interview that the squad are still looking towards the play offs and not down towards the relegation zone!

I get more pissed off with every sound bite that comes out of the club these days.

Fact is that we will win a game soon and Westley will be the first of many to tell us how right he was. That we may not win another one is a minor point.

I'm gonna just confront this head-on at the next game, getting thrown out and possibly banned could be a blessing. What an absolute mess
