Club Takeover/Investment

Club Takeover/Investment

Anybody who still harbours hopes of large investment in January, I suggest a look at this report. I read their cricket version and it was excellent. I’ve not had chance to read the football version in full but I was drawn towards the table for the upcoming squad cost rules bu a comment on the wireless tonight. We spent 160% of our income on wages in 2024/25 and were the worst club analysed for this report.

I thought the talk of Archer in particular was absurd but if he’d signed you can only imagine the impact he would have had on this percentage. I know there’s talk about increasing income etc but it’s sickening that we spend so much money on such absolute garbage. I can only imagine our wages went up last and presumably down this year with losing Whiteman and Osmajic but football has lost the plot.

Apologies if it’s already been posted.

I really can’t see that if we were to be relegated it would make any bearing on the sale
Euxton valuation remains the same as do most of the players value etc, absolutely no difference in the ground and anything associated
The intake from fan spend would be roughly the same, TV intake would drop
A quick search suggests that overall income drops from c£40m per club per annum to c£10m per club per annum. I accept that Google can be wrong but that fall in revenue cannot do anything but make any predetermined sale price be less. Asset valuation may indeed be equal but that's only if use if you intend to liquidate the asset. Players sale value - for what it is given the under-investment in playing staff over recent years - already isn't significant and will inevitably reduce further

The last statement from Penrose seemed as though the takeover was progressing in the background. Have things changed in a relatively short period of time? Would Zedan pull the plug purely because of results? Would him and his people not have known this squad wasn’t likely to pull up any trees?

Also, given that the Hemmings are clearly sick of owning the club, whether Zedan goes ahead or not you’d surely still expect a sale in the next year ish? Praying it’s Zedan though and there’s a complete overhaul of the current footballing setup.

IF that becomes a reality, a season in league one with a revamped footballing setup and coherent recruitment could be great. Massive hypothetical though.

If we get relegated our income drops dramatically and we are then 2 divisions away from top tier football. This absolutely changes the dynamics of the deal.
Do we really want to go up; new owners won’t
If only indeed.

They could have been a well run club.

2013……
