Daniel Iversen's form

Daniel Iversen's form

I think the problem is that PNE fans believed that he was something that he wasn't (this happens a lot!)

Because he's been good for us (it's a low bar when it comes to permanent keepers) they thought he was the new Peter Schmeichel and destined to turn into the best goalkeeper on planet earth.

He's lower Championship level, sometimes better than that, sometimes worse.

We ain't getting anyone better though, so its pointless worrying.

Have to disagree wholeheartedly.

Bar Pickford he's been our best keeper at North End in decades.
You're probably right but I'm not sure that's as high a compliment as you think it is.

Woodman, Rudd, Maxwell, Cornell, Ripley, Turner, Stuckmann, Johnstone

With the exception of Johnstone, who Iversen definelty isn't better than, the highest of the rest is, at best, lower half Championship quality.

I know I'm in the vast minority, but Imo Woodman got a bad rep.
Better than many said he was.

Twenty clean sheet (remember those?) and Championship Golden Glove winner Freddie Woodman?

And what is he doing now?

Oh yeah he is putting out the cones at Liverpool.
And probably on about 10k/week more at one of the world's biggest clubs which must have seen something in him that many of our supporters didn't.
Well done Freddie.
I'll have some of that thanks.

Back near his best yesterday which was great to see. Two top saves that many keepers in our division wouldn't make, kicking was fine in the second half. The distribution I'm much less bothered about, I've just been worried that he couldn't reach his previous high standards of shot stopping that he had pre-injury. He proved yesterday that he's heading back towards that level.

Well done to him but he is literally a training goalkeeper. Same as Andy lonnergan was when he was there. And Scott Carson when he was at city.

I’m pleased for him. I would love 20 grand a week to put out a few cones too.

I should also say, although I'm not normally a fan of that sort of thing, it was good to see Dan opting to parry balls out of the box in those horrid conditions yesterday rather than attempting a catch and risking a mistake.

Still needs to be coming for more balls and catching more shots than he does, but yesterday it was very much horses for courses.

How could you forget, Lindergard, Crowe, and Kirkland? 🙄

We saw the best and the worst from Iversen yesterday. Made some excellent saves, which I don't believe many others in our league would have saved.

But his distribution was mostly really poor. Like it or not but we're going to be a really hard working side (hopefully) where we're not reliant on having plenty possession of the ball. At times it really won't be a pretty watch. But when we do have the ball, we can't have Iversen constantly hitting direct balls straight to the opposition or out of play. It's an area that needs improving.

One hopes it’s an easier thing to train a Gk in distribution and team tactics. Saves often come with instinctive reaction. I’d rather have it - distribution to work on to improve rather than the other way round. Albeit his saves have not been as reassuring as last season

Iversen’s kicking has now become a weird fixation like Heckingbottom’s subs did.

Yeah, a few in the first half didn’t quite come off, but I’m not sure what people expect. These are 70 yard kicks, in awful conditions. He’s obviously not Ederson is he, and whilst his ability with his feet is at the lower end of the division, he’s made up for that over the years by winning us points.

Spot on…

The Chelsea keeper ( Pender ) was making his debut last night and looked okay to start with until he punched one into his own net…. I don’t think the conditions helped.
