I think the key is who he has come to replace.

A definite upgrade on Stewart and Evans in terms of ability to support and supplement the first team however going off his goal scoring record it's a big gamble to hope he will replace the goals we have lost from Riis.

He's a clear upgrade on Stewart, Evans and (last season's) Keane. IF he develops at the same rate as others, he could well be a Riis upgrade too. It's definitely a punt worth going for, hopefully with another striker to join.
I have to be honest, the recruitment this summer has been very smart so far. Minimal outlay but the squad already looks better, quicker, and more balanced.
