England U19

England U19

Poor response. 😱

I've played at teenage level against the likes of Nigel Jemson, Lennie Johnrose and Alan Kelly Jnr to name but a few. They made it, however, there were better more individualistic types (think Stan Bowles or Kanchelskis types) who never made it.

Any individual skill is frowned upon in England. 😡

See Frank Worthington, Glenn Hoddle, Matt Le Tissier as examples.

If Andreas Iniesta was born English, he would NOT be in the National team as he'd be deemed both too slight and too much of an individual. 😡

Joe Cole is a recent example of exclusion from the National Team.

You personal gripe with Pissac has clouded your judgment.

Poor form mate. 😱

Many years ago I was introduced to a German, married to an English woman and living here permanently. He had been a highly rated footballer in his earlier years and he had a job providing reports to the German FA and clubs on English teams.

I asked him what he thought of Glen Hoddle. He said that if he had been German the German team would have built around him. First name on the team sheet every time.

parents stood at sidelines screaming for their kid to 'get rid' or 'clear your lines'.

These pricks do more harm than good. My Dad never missed one single junior game of mine, yet all he did was pat me on the back win lose or draw. If I played poorly, I always knew. He always used to be proud if I scored or had a good game, and he would buy me a packet of stickers or something, but he never screamed at me for making mistakes (as kids do).

'Get rid' and 'hoof it' are two terms used to put the lad in possession under immense pressure. It makes no sense. But kids don't get taught how to make triangle and pass out of difficult scenarios, so they generally tend to follow suit.

Sometimes defending requires a big welly out of play, or up the field. But not as often as the English seem to demonstrate.

I'd best take it back then, it's obviously Pisaacs kids coach's fault that he never played for England, and not the fact he wasn't good enough.

Jesus wept! 😱

I'll bet they never told the talented players to get rid.

I do however see a problem at base level, where kids aren't even allowed to be competetive thanks to PC buffoons not wanting to upset the kids who are crap, like Pisaacs boy.

I really get to you don't I?

Tell us how you know my son was crap. How can you infer that? Then again, you infer everything as you have nothing to back you up, ever.

Kevin Hird, the ex-Rovers player, used to run summer coaching schools. After one school he told someone, not knowing that that someone knew my wife, that my son was the outstanding player in the group. In the group of about 7 primary schools that his school played regularly he played midfield and was the leading scorer in all schools - right foot, left foot and headers.

Difficult for you to take, Shaky, but the undisputed truth.

if you asked the dutch to put kids in competitve games as young as we do, they'd piss their sides laughing.

Wonder who have a better record at developing players, us or the dutch?

Yes, yes I know Ballsaac, he was a magnificent player, should have captained England but was ruined by some fucker telling him to get rid.

Give me a fucking break! 😱

If he was any good, he wouldn't be told to get rid.

The only reason he never made it was a lack of ability, make as many excuses as you like.

I scored 48 goals in one season at under 14, left foot, right foot, headers and over head scissors kicks. I never made it because I was nowhere near good enough, and can accept it without blaming others.

You can't even see the basic flaws in a goalkeeper Ballsaac, or assess a goal even with the help of TV replays, so I'm afraid you can't be trusted to judge anything, no wonder you thought your kid was a world beater, because you would be absolutely blind to his faults, just like you are now with PNE.

I played, and scored, in Holland at under 13 level. As I recall the junior set up at Arnhem was brilliant.

Some players peak at a younger age which makes them stand out above their peers at say age 13 but as their peers fulfill their higher potential the player who peaked early is left by the wayside. I would suspect that is what happened with Pisaac's son if he's as good as he says he was.

I suspect Pisaacs son left home at the first opportunity. 😱

We've had years of his analysis of players, and it's laughable.

Can we stop talking about pisaacs son? This thread had the makings of an interesting debate for once.

Just give Bill a shout, he'll move it off topic.

Who brought up Pisaacs son, what a fantastic player he was and how the system let him down?

Yep, Pisaac. 🙄

i think we have a lot to learn most other countries in Europe in the way we coach young people.

over the last year i have completed my level 2 in football coaching, i thought it was really good how the break down technique's, skills and them put them into a game situation. having come away after the course had finished and started coaching myself, if i felt the coaching i received on the course was second to none.

however about 6 weeks ago i went to a grass roots coaching exhibition, were various top coaches put sessions on.i spent the full day watching British coaches put good sessions together with good ideas, but the best session came from a Dutch coach called tom da hoop, all the things he did in the session were very different to the way the British coaches did their sessions and everything came together perfectly.

so when i coach, i always try to emphasise keeping possession and creating space rather than just playing direct football. but do we English like to see that happen? when paul mckenna played for us and made his sideways or backwards passes he got slated, however on the continent he would have been praised for keeping possession for his team!

so do you think we potentially have a bit to learn from them then?

Probably not, we beat them 2-0, and even I scored against them. 😉

I can't pretend to know much about coaching as I don't, but it makes me piss when somebody like Pisaac blames coaching for his kid being gash at Football.

Yeh...but most of them were against Andy Lonergan...and he's gash !!!!😀

As always a complete and total exaggeration. I only mentioned my son as one example, as a response to another poster's comment. I was simply agreeing with him, not making a statement to impress everyone.

The fact that this thread has developed as it has is that you have stalked me again, as you always do! There was no reference to you or Lonergan. I was not making any great claims for my son, but you, in your sad demented world, has made the issue it into something that was not intended.

As to your further post about Lonergan, what about this?

WBA wanted Lonergan, never mind that a price couldn’t be agreed. Now let’s have a look who’s in charge. Di Matteo – about 40 Italian caps, over 100 games for Chelsea.

More interestingly, who is the gk coach? Dean Kiely – over 600 league games, about 200 for Charlton in the Prem.

Thy wanted Lonergan.

Oh, I’m sorry, someone should have told them that a Cumbrian nutter would put them straight.

And laughter did peal across the nation.

Yes, but don't forget, Di Matteo only got the job because your other hero Irvine turned them down! 🙄

There's only one laughing stock on this board Pisaac, or have you forgotten how badly you have humiliated yourself time and time again? 🙂

I didn't realise Lonergan had gone, WBA wanted him as second or third choice to Carson, a keeper you have ridiculed, and offered a more than reasonable price, which falls well below your multi million pound valuation.

They offered a price far nearer my valuation of him, because I am a realist, not a fantasist. So if you're telling me what good judges these people are, they seem to be agreeing with me.

Thanks Ballsaac. 🙂
