My dad turned 67 yesterday. He's watched us pretty much his whole life and tonight he said he doesn't enjoy games anymore. Just finds it a chore. Have to agree. It's honking. And to be fair, it's not all down to Lowe. Was the same the last 2 seasons under AN too.
I turned 78 this year, went on my first match aged 7.
Seen some shite, but also seen some excellent players along the way.
From the 50's to today I have seen how the game has changed.
Had great times travelling up and down the country, meeting and befriending some great people, many are probably names on the Gentry flags now.
Even came through the Westley times.
I think it was a game at Deepdale, I think against QPR were I first got the feeling that your dad had.
COVID struck and as shite as those times were it was a bit of a blessing that I didn't have to attend Deepdale.
I had long had a season ticket but didn't renew after COVID but just picked my games.
Went on the first five home games last season and even winning games the "football" on offer was hard to take and I haven't been since.
I live in hopes that we shortly see the back of Ridsdale and Lowe and new people come in that win, lose or draw make the footie more pleasing to watch and worth the trudge up Deepdale Road.
The only thing that bothers me is if it becomes worth the effort an old fart technophobe like me will be able to gain access to the ground.
Sorry, I know, shit fan.
