His diversion tactic won’t work though. The recall of Armstrong will no doubt feature heavily in the Chairman’s end of season report when explaining why we again failed to get into the playoff positions and help divert attention from the owners lack of support to the manager and fans aspirations ..
Confirmed Harrison Armstrong joins on loan from Everton.

He’d have been the ideal replacement but as you say, those rumours look to be off the mark.Depends who is available. I know the Rothwell rumours seem to be bollocks but if someone like that was there waiting, I’d get the deal done.
We can’t surely run the risk of waiting, for it not to happen though?

I'd wait for Armstrong. Their central midfield situation will return to as it was at the seasons start towards the end of the month, and they were happy with him playing week in week out prior to injuries.
He can't play for any other club so can only stay at Everton or return here.
He's only gone back because it's a necessity for their squad right now. After AFCON and with KDH closer to a return, Armstrong will be down the pecking order again.
We should be able to manage a few weeks without him, especially with McCann and Thompson back fit. In fact, it's a good chance for Thompson to show what he's about.

There is a less than 0 chance that Revitt finances a replacement that would require a fee over someone returning from loan requiring no fee. I can’t even see her funding the positions we already needWould you run the risk of waiting for him to possibly return, or would you just act ASAP and replace.
I know what I’d do. A nice loan with option for someone else would soften the blow.

We've known this was a possibility for a while so I would expect the club to have a replacement lined up...

We’ve known since we signed him that there was greater possibility that he’d return over any of our other loans. We've known this was a possibility for a while so I would expect the club to have a replacement lined up...
Original plan was a loan only until January anyway but we managed to get the season agreed at the last minute.

Ah yes, hanging on for Everton all window on a “Will they? Won’t they?”.
Excellent memories, proper little nostalgia trip that one.

Slightly different players but if for some reason Everton get another injury and Armstrong is needed ask Liverpool for James McConnell.
Didn't work out for him at Ajax but they are playing Champions League football so that level is obviously very good.
As I said, slightly different to Armstrong though as he likes to sit and dictate the game.

I can’t be arsed sitting around all window for Everton again.
Quite liked the idea we’d been proactive with Rothwell but that looks to be bollocks.

We haven't played well for a while now and struggling for wins, yet some think we'll get by until the end of Jan or when/if he comes back.
What happens if Everton's injury woes worsen, or there injuries take longer than expected ( hmm, sometimes think thats a bit like here!🤔)
The positions he takes up in midfield looks ordinary without him, let's not kid ourselves!
Crucial few weeks, both in performance an turning bloody draws into wins!!

My only concern would be him clashing with Whiteman stylistically. He needs legs next to him to get around the pitch offensively and defensivelySlightly different players but if for some reason Everton get another injury and Armstrong is needed ask Liverpool for James McConnell.

Trying to find out if he’s available for tomorrow. As there’s no official recall yet.

Don't see it happening unless Thor leaves. And even then, what loanee is going to want to come in and sit behind the captain?
Pretty sure Armstrong will be back with us in Feb.

Memo to Ando - The only game I've Preston lose at Deepdale in the past five years (15 / 18 games) was Tottenham in the cup.
2 - 0 tomorrow and we'll be back in the top six.

Even if the current plan is for Armstrong to come back at the end of January, if he looks comfortable and puts in a few eye catching performances for Everton I suspect they’ll want to keep him there.
Personally I don’t think he’s ready for the PL yet, but he’ll be busting a gut to show Moyes what he can do in January.

I reckon he’ll play tomorrow. Everton don’t play until Sunday so they can get an extra game of development out of him before he goes back
Can't see them risking an injury to someone they need for back up/rotation. Imagine the uproar on here if we were in a similar position and allowed it to happen only for them to get injured.
It sounds entirely like something we would do but Everton are a bit smarter than us
