Has anyone else on here got an EPL or 'second team' they support casually?

There's almost always one close by.

Fine but I know a bloke from Down South who picked PNE as his team due to the 64 Cup Final and was still doing a 400 mile plus round trip every fortnight (plus away games) fifty years later.

(And he got called a Southern cunt by some Neanderthal at Colchester during the latter Westley days cos he asked him to sit down)

Stockport are my nearest club as well. A club(and town) definitely on the up.

I once went on a Liverpool game in the sixties . Intercities Fairs Cup (sic) Liverpool won 8 nil. And later I knew the brother of Brian Hall ( a Preston lad ) Who played alongside Steve Highway ? . I used to call Ronnie Whelan cousin Ronnie . But naw. Never really supported another team just had weird links that made me look up when the results came. I look occasionally for Luton Town because Adrian Alston ( Preston lad played for australia)played for them and you’ve got to love a yo yo team whose fans get into the ground through a ginnel

Grew up supporting PNE home & away, moved to Huddersfield (as username suggests) in my 20s and consequently my children are ardent Town fans. Go on town quite a bit and support them due to the family connection but I think, most would agree, that only one team ever truly gets "under your skin".

slightly widening the original subject - i have often where time allows tried to watch as many sporting events as i can on my travels
cricket in india
Football in the RSA
Off the scale fantastic fans
F1 in the KSA / Abu Dhabi
Tennis in NYC
All brilliant in their own way
f1 at kyalami was good will grant you that, for audience participation as a whole though, imo its 1 the isle of man TT, 2 the bathurst 1000 at mount panorama & 3 cricket at eden gardens Calcutta

Not so much following another team - I’m firmly one of those that can’t go and watch another team that isn’t PNE.

The only other teams I might go to watch are Fleetwood and AFC Fylde - my ‘other team’ is the U9’s that I coach. I put my time and effort into a set of boys learning and developing the game on a Monday night training and Saturday morning for a match.

One of the lads is training/playing with AFC Fylde and a lot of the lads live in Fleetwood and started their first grassroots year at Poolfoot farm. So every now and again, we’ll go to games as a team, or, as has happened recently, the boys were mascots for AFC Fylde.

Until the mess is sorted out, that’s where my time and energy lies.

Used to watch Morecambe when they were non-league - Ayr United are my Scottish team although I also went to Stirling Albion. Watched Cork City a few times but was more into GAA over there, and supported Sparta FC before they disbanded.

they turned David Murray down when he wanted to buy them, he was Murray International Metals and went and bought Glasgow Rangers, my second team is St Johnstone as my old man was from Crieff

No, never!!
Why would anyone ever??
Born and bred PNE, you support where you're born in my eyes, no discussion FFS
I first went to Deepdale in 1962. I was born in Leamington and have never lived anywhere near Preston. So, according to your odd view of the world, I should support Coventry regardless of family ties. Tosh.

Indeed - by that reckoning, I should support Barrow. I do look out for their results, but my family are PNE and I followed in their footsteps. Mind you, my Gran's side of the family are from Salford and support Man City. That could have been a rollercoaster in another life...

Just interested, but what's the story behind it? How did you end up at Deepdale?
My parents were from Preston (Dad, Higher Walton, Mum, Broughton). Grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins were all in Preston when I grew up, so we visited frequently. My Dad used to take me and my brother to Deepdale whenever we were there. We also used to go to away games in the Midlands and then when we moved to Buckinghamshire, London and other local games. I had no choice as to who I followed. I rarely get to Preston these days…all my relatives have either moved away or are 6 foot under!
