Have we Improved under Heckingbottom/Hecky Out.

Have we Improved under Heckingbottom/Hecky Out.

He's not Lowe, and that was good enough for many, me included.

In terms of entertainment there's not a lot of difference at all. We could probably have lost that game today under the previous fella.

I have to concur with @billymac. Heckingbottom was crap at Hibs, and still has a lot to prove here.

No. The only thing Hecky has going for him is he’s a more personable character than the last two managers.
The football is really uninspiring and boring (yes I know the talent he has at his disposal is limited), he persists in picking his favourites and making bizarre team selections to force fit them in, he seems frightened of flair players (like Mads) and prefers the plodders, you can only assume he sees something completely different on the training ground.
At the end of the day people go on to be entertained and there must be a finite limit to people’s patience.
What I don’t understand is Neil, Lowe and Hecky all claim to be coaches (Lowe had a badge) but how many of our players do you see develop and improve. Potts, for example, seems no different today than when he arrived 6 years ago. And as for our throw ins and set pieces - how can we be so bad at them and never improve?

The booing during and after the Oxford game gave a clue that its already been reached by many.

Who would you say were his players?

Mads is overrated and maybe he sees this

It’s been done to death but the mishandling of transfer matters has held us back big time.
We should have netted millions for the likes of Browne, Pearson, Davies and Johnson but received either peanuts or nothing at all.
When we do make a big money signing in August the player features very little and we are hoping to offload him to Aberdeen permanently which at the moment looks unlikely to happen.
Not good practice to put it mildly.

I’d say we’ve improved but it is a very low bar.

I’ve come to terms with the fact it’s going to be shit to watch until the likes of Ledson, Hughes, Storey, Lindsey and Potts are so old they physically can’t be rolled out by manager after manager. Probably only another 4 years or so to hold out.

I said the same thing under Lowe.

You cant polish a turd.

Its about the 11 on the pitch and, no matter what manager we have, the players are still the same, uninterested.

Very true. We’ve all known for a long time that we need a major rebuild. Unfortunately, our refresh rates are quite low and takes us years to get players out of the club. It would take us approximately 5 seasons to change the squad. Trouble is, the ones we buy first are out of contract and leave before we ever finish the rebuild. This club is dead.

I would suggest he definitely has a twinkle for Potts, Whiteman and Lindsay. I would be surprised if the first two are not straight back in as soon as they are available.

Potts has needed to be played because of our lack of cover on the left but the other two have certainly spent time on the bench

He’s improved the defence that’s for sure, with little to no help until Jan.

We are a hard team to beat. Yes we aren’t winning much but this seasons all about staying up and he’s currently keeping us up. Reality check for fellow Preston fans needed we are in a transition period

In my opinion, yes, but it's still all too painful to watch us.
Never watched today's game but the stats tells the tale, Tuesday was a poor watch as well.
However we can change a system in a game, there is a thought process during the game, so we can adapt, something we never did under the previous manager.

However, what can he do with a squad that possess, slow plodding players like, Hughes, Lindsay, Whatmough, Holmes, Potts, Ledson, Whiteman, Bowler, Brady, Storey, Bauer, Ledson, Evans and Keane.
That's 14 senior pros, that do not have any pace, guile or creativity, what is the manager supposed to do?

Out of the players I haven't listed, Mads is inconsistent and gives the ball away far too often, Riis has numerous faults, all mentioned on here, Thor.....the jury is out but I think there is a player there. KKH and Greenwood are not ours and will (probably) not be back next season.

Yes we have improved, the squad on the other hand has not.
RIDSDALE OUT!

This is our fifth successive transition season.

Can we just remind ourselves where we were when he became manager in August, bottom of the league after two defeats in two. Lots of folk were predicting relegation as a certainty. He’s had 5 months with an unbalanced squad he’s inherited. Give the man a bit of time.

I am so enjoying our new manager "bounce" unlike QPR, Coventry, Hull and Oxford, none of these teams has been able to bring in new players (until a few days ago) and have enjoyed much better fortunes with their new managers, we however have yet another manager welded to a defensive setup who takes NO blame at all for only 6 wins in 25 league games, a 24% win ratio is just shite.
