Heckingbottom

Middlesbrough pay wages that can attract people like their 2nd goal scorer today. We won't pay that level of wages which means he doesn't score goals for us anymore.
Agreed, had we managed to keep Browne we'd be pissing it this season just like we did every other season he was here. 🄓

Think you missed my point. Am not having it there isn't another manager out there that could get more out of this squad of players.

He had us third in the league, pushing for automatic then didn't get backed in the window, why should Hecky be bothered about anything other than staying up. If the club is sold the new owner will likely want to bring their own people in anyway, maybe a big name like Gerrard or Rooney. Be careful what you wish for.
I think Gerrard could actually be a decent appointment at this level.

He apparently left on less money than he’d been getting here.

The major thing both Middlesbrough and Sunderland have in their favour is they aren’t managed by the charlatan.

The major thing that they have in their favour is that they don't have Man U, City, Liverpool and Everton on their doorstep.

They may have Newcastle but I doubt that they have plastic fans like clubs in the North West or London have to cope with.

Other clubs like Bristol City, Norwich and Ipswich have a similar advantage.

I think Gerrard could actually be a decent appointment at this level.

He badly needs Michael Beale or someone who can coach with him. Gerrard imo would be just a front to get in experienced players but club just dosen't have the budget currently to do that.

I think if PH is moved on in the summer then two appointments that should be realistic and are genuinely up and coming are these guys:

Michael Skubala. Was caretaker for a few games for Leeds in the prem in 2023 so worked under Bielsa and other managers they had then. Been Lincoln manager since 2023 and now they are well placed to win the league ahead of Cardiff and BBM. Lincoln being in the championship would be incredible achievement, no idea when they last played at this level. A shade under 50% win ratio there.

Askou- By all accounts Motherwell playing best football in SPL this season, even ahead of Hearts so clearly has something to raise limited squad. Shame Craig Brown isn't around anymore otherwise he'd probably be tipping off someone at the club to keep tabs on him.

They should be as realistic as Lowe at Plymouth anyway even with the general state this club is in.

Hecky brought in 3 players in January that he wanted or so it was reported.

Lang was his choice and had been a target last summer, we paid a club record fee?

Milos was someone they had been looking at for sometime but their hand was forced by the Osmajic situation and they were trying to sell him but it didn't happen hence I think why we went for a loan and not a purchase.

Moran is a puzzler, didn't pull up any trees at Rovers whilst on loan and to buy him was a bit hasty in my opinion, that deal should have been a loan with an option to buy. We probably haven't seen enough of him to be fair but he blew a massive chance to force his way in by missing at against Portsmouth when clean through.

Something has simply gone wrong somewhere, whether it be tactics, formation or team selection. This is when your staff around you come to the fore. is McCall a strong enough character to tell Hecky what's going wrong or are they simply going through the motions knowing that the inevitable will happen.

Another area of concern has been the set piece issues, this is Peter MURPHY's area and for the last 2 years we have been awful with only the occasional one coming good like at Sheff Wed. Why have we been subjected to the terrible deliveries by Whiteman who doesn't seem to learn or change his approach, so many balls just dollied up in the air which result in a towering centre half heading it away or the keeper having catching practice or someone like Smith getting a header in which has all the power of heading a balloon just like when Murdock headed it all those years ago.

the drop of form by Gibson is alarming, he was rolls royce esq but sadly totally out of sorts, last Friday was painful enough but the 1st and 3rd goals were so poor and down to him

So what is the answer? I am at a loss, yes we would all like to see new owners but that comes with considerable risks. For me the team selection has been all wrong, players need breaks and rest but PH seems to keep faith with some which is obviously to the detriment of the team. There is a clear lack of leadership on the field of play. We are getting out played by very poor teams.

Good job we got the points of the board at the start of the season otherwise we would be bottom 3 and fighting to stay up once again.

I think that PH stays until the end of the season then its probably a parting of the ways for all concerned.

I did not go to the game yesterday despite having a season ticket for 30 plus years, just watched from home.
The Millwall game with the lack of passion, fight and attacking intent was enough,so decided not to bother.
The Oxford game has done even less to entice me back to my seat.
I've watched North End since 1973 and it's difficult to imagine a time I've felt so little interest due to the performances on the pitch and the negativity off the pitch.šŸ™šŸ˜”
We went out for a family meal in Penwortham last night…

Out of the 11 of us there , 7 are ST holders at Deepdale.
None of us attended on Friday night , that says it all.

Absolutely.

Shows there is a real commercial reason to change manager, which might end up being a persuasive argument. If we just limp home this season or wait until summer to make a change you can imagine there being no enthusiasm at all from supporters. Another season of limping over the line. No excitement for the next window, because last summer we got decent players and it didn't make a difference under this manager.

For ST sales alone an injection of new excitement might be needed.

Backed but no longer.
Won’t be sacked; IoM wouldn’t finance a striker so no chance them bearing the cost of sacking (PH & S McC too?) & replacing.
Everything about the club stinks; IoM, PR, PH & his team; most but not quite all of the team, the ground, pitch, youth etc et bloody cetera.
All at the club very stale & sub standard.
New broom desperately, desperately needed.

Probably take more than just a change of manager.

We've also bought in from June last year Jason Euell a former PL forward as our first team coach
Yet our goalscoring record of 42 goals in 36 games 1.16 goals a game and only 11 goals in the last 12 games since start of the year is very poor.
We also appointed a new fitness coach in Andy Liddell, yet our levels of fitness and being able to press the opposition look poor compared to other teams.
Our players always seem to look heavy legged as the game proceeds, the players simply not looking sharp and reacting a being 1st to the ball.šŸ¤”

We’ve seen this all before with Alex Neil. Changing the manager achieves nothing but deflecting the attention away from the fundamental problem with the club which is the ownership.

Keep the manager and keep the pressure on the owners to sell up.

Aye, I think a full clear out is the only way we'll get our club back.

I'm being critical of Hecky but the real blame does lie with the board and owners.

Went on match on Friday…me and mate have bought tickets for Coventry match including coach travel…not going …that says it all šŸ¤”šŸ«£

@Waterboy

Wow, that is pretty telling…

I was talking to someone yesterday who said that they have a friend who has bought their train ticket to Charlton
for Gentry Day BUT now they aren’t going …… They have had enough ā˜¹ļøā˜¹ļø

We’ve won one match with Cornell in goal out of 17.
Wow, I didn’t realise that…..

We desperately need Iversen back to instill some confidence in the defence.

Although Cornell has done okay , the players in front of him don’t seem to have the
same faith in him as they do Iversen
