Lowe's particular "approach" to management drove many fans, myself included, to the point of giving up on football completely. The constant stream of total bullshit, the "brand", "badges" and fisty pumps seems like a bad dream now. When things went well, as in that miracle start to the season, he could get away with it. At the end of the day he resembled a sort of a perversion of a demented soviet political commissar. A whole stream of meaningless platitudes and when the players predictably failed they were shot in the back of the head: metaphorically speaking of course.
Heckingbottom fits the accepted profile of a genuine football manager as opposed to a total charlatan. Nevertheless, there are serious issues. I would have to start with his personal disciplinary record, setting a very poor example all round. Then there is his rigid conservatism that makes us so easy to read for the opposition. Wedded to a boring uninspiring system and unstintingly committed to timed substitutions on the hour like the Trumpton clock, Heckingbottom has managed to be no improvement on someone who I don't really consider to be a football manager at all.
If he leaves at the end of the season, I would be sad for him that it didn't work. But I would be personally relieved.
