Heckingbottom

I know it’s not as simple as this but they were lined up 5-3-2 for large parts of that match.

The setups all about nicking a match with moments rather than imposing ourselves on the opposition.

It’s a consistently horrible watch.

Part of the reason I wanted BBM in when Hecky was appointed was his philosophy seemed the opposite of recent North End managers.

We’ve just got another shade of the same colour we’ve been served since Neil.

I don’t think he’s lost the dressing room, the players seem to like him.

I just don’t think he has the tactical or motivational prowess to get this thing turned around, as he didn’t at most of his other gigs. And it’s getting a bit too desperate for comfort now.
Fair enough mate. Obviously a more than fair opinion to hold.

I personally think he’s tactically astute, with an average squad. Where I think he is struggling at the minute, where all managers do, is turning it around whilst the players’ confidence is at an all time low. So maybe that aligns with what you say about motivational prowess - but easier said than done!

I said elsewhere that he has lost the players but not in terms of them not liking him but in terms of having any belief to carry out what he wants them to.

Paul got a bad hand in January (like many before him) by our disinterested owners.

This lack of interest drip feeds down and we are where we are.

I like Paul and as a club another cycle of the sack, not back, lose interest, sack cycle is not what any of us wanted.

Sadly though I genuinely think he doesn't know or have the ability to get us out this horrific run.

He’s lost the plot, whilst I’ve lost the faith. Time for a change.
This is underperformance whichever way you look at it.
And I’m not having that he hasn’t been backed. He’s been backed like never before.

Completely disagree. What I’m seeing in terms of our structure is just like at the start of the season. Same slots, same pressing structure (in certain games).

I don’t doubt they’re trying their best. Like I said before, and you’re more than entitled to disagree, I just think their confidence is at rock bottom.

Been backed like never before!

Yeah reet 😒

I think he has to go but you’re talking absolute bollocks

I don't disagree about that.

As soon as we conceded the first goal on Wednesday and today I had no doubt at all it was game over.

At half time I had no belief that we would turn it around.

Had Hughes not missed that sitter, would it suddenly have woken us up?

As I mentioned I like Paul and ultimately nothing will change until the club is sold but I am seriously struggling to back a manager who has a 25% win ratio, with 5 wins in twenty games, of which two where against Sheff Wednesday.

I do have sympathy for PH.

People act as if he actively wanted to sign Smith, Thompson etc and it’s as if he signed them out of choice over better players.

Eveything stems back to the board and lack of investment.

This is the same manager we were lauding in January for getting us to within touching distance of the top two and now, following a joke of a January window we now sit talking about relegation.

PH does seem to be losing the plot right on cue as those who have gone before him did but I don’t blame him - I blame those above him

Great post.

Our form can’t be ignored though.

As much as I like Hecky, something has to give.

In an ideal world we get taken over and he’s given some decent backing but that isn’t happening.

I still think something serious has gone on behind the scenes that’s contributing to this drop off.

I don't think it's anything like that really.

I think it's more we lost two important players, then lost a few games really badly, with some honking performances, and that's just smashed a huge dent in the morale and confidence of the players. They've gone from a group that feels like they can give anyone a game, to now struggling for belief.

And with each game and poor performance that passes, although I thought today was ok and one of our better ones, the harder it is to get out of that rut as it's a slippery slope. Which is when a new manager could potentially boost things, and it brings a fresh face and a different idea, and that's where you sometimes get a new manager bounce (not always guaranteed) so that may be what the group does need at this stage.

If we lose on Friday, I think that could potentially be the nail in the coffin. Especially if it's a loss with a bad performance too. But if there's any club and board to keep him on until the end, it is us.

It’s just a load of words thrown together in a random manner in my opinion. No question about Osmajic, nothing about the injury to Iversen, nothing about Storey’s passing, nothing about our midfield two creating less than a 1 year old with a Lego set and being slower than a slug in Valium and nothing about Hughes and Smith and their inability to direct a football towards goal.

I’m only surprised he didn’t start on Small as well as Offiah.
Oh he called out Odel -what manager calls out his player in public? This guy has got to go asap💯

PH is even worse than Lowe IMHO, at least Lowe a couple of times took the blame for poor results, NOTHING is ever PH's fault, his pressers are just jumbled words with no meaning, but still a few happy clappers can see no wrong in PH, well waken up, we are hurtling down the league just like last season but still it's not PH's fault in any way!!!!!

I'm not sure how anyone can claim to like or have sympathy with Paul Heckingbottom when he's managing the most ill-disciplined and petulant squad we've ever had, which is actually a total embarrassment. And also in his own image.

He must be the worst man manager I've ever seen at Preston, and that's saying something.

"what an appointment", they said, "great manager", they said.

He's no better than Ryan Lowe - worse if anything.

However, sacking him solves nothing because our problems lie much much deeper than that. Fed up of saying the same thing though.

Yeah, new manager bounce might save us from relegation though, so let's go with that for now. 😒

Bad day….

Wins for Rovers and West Brom also Oxford got a point….

We are definitely going down
We won’t go down Ando but it will go to the last three games, unfortunately 😢

It’s really hard to project anything positive at the moment but the first half of the season has saved us.

Sell the club please before it’s gets ugly.
