Heckingbottom

Reading some of these posts it appears the players have become too damned precious to take instructions from an experienced manager. Maybe they need to listen more and roll eyes and tantrum less because they have played no better than a bunch of overgrown schoolboys for the entire of 2026 (Bristol City excluded) they concede very easily and can’t score for toffee. Hard luck boys that’s how the world works in the workplace you are not always going to like what you get.

Football is not a normal workplace. If a manager loses the squad, he needs to go immediately. Heckingbottom is the least motivated out of all of them.

The reality of football is simple.

It’s a results driven business. It really doesn’t matter whether we think PH is a good or bad, Manager! The truth is his results aren’t good enough for whatever reason.

Has he been dealt a bad hand? I’d say so, yes!

Is he a great, Manager? Definitely not, but he’s at a Championship club with ‘Zero’ ambition. Hard to motivate and recruit under those circumstances. He probably thought he’d be able to do it when he was asked to do the job. In reality it’s an impossible job.

PH will go down as a poor Manager for PNE, but let’s not forget the absolute shambles that run and own this football club.

They are complicit.

There’s a few comments on here about the lack of backing for PH and pointing to the fact he wouldn’t have wanted to sign Smith in the summer. We will never know whether he wanted him or not but we do know for certain that yesterday he chose to bring Smith on instead of Osmajic when we were 2 down and desperate for a goal. That’s all down to the manager.

Also it was made clear that signing Lang was his decision and he was a player he desperately wanted. A club record fee on a player with hamstrings made of plasticine. We all knew what was coming there. Again all down to PH.

He’s not up to the job, get rid.

Conceding 2 goals a game whilst scoring 1 goal every two is never going to end well

Sick to death of hearing it’s because Armstrong left

LISTEN it’s not the first rancid run of results he’s had , is it ? DOES THAT MAKE SENSE ?

Hahahaha. Brilliant. The old 'Heck double whammy' there.

If he had a Scouse accent people would have called out what complete bell end he is ages ago.

He’s fallen out with Heckingbottom and is completely done with us.

In which case he should be bombed out of the squad or sent back.

Young players should be learning the trade but unfortunately far too many are put on massive contracts and become too precious.

We have had plenty on loan who have displayed great attitude like Van Den Berg, Kesler-Hayden and Alvaro.

Devine clearly a prima donna who might make it in the Championship but is not going to make it in the Premier League.

If he had stayed at Spurs and got into the matchday squad because of injuries woild he have spat out his dummy because they are shit, or rolled up his sleeves and worked harder?

Very disappointing even if the manager has lost the plot.

Yes, 100% it's a cesspit of a club and it's sad it's ended this way. Managers who go on these runs (especially after doing it the previous season) get fired, that's part and parcel of it.

He's been awful. It's as simple as that. By every measure, he's been a total disaster and that sheff Utd promotion now looks more and more like a Chris Wilder achievement more than anything.

I don't know if it's an impossible job. We've had such a run of bad managers now. Look at the signing of Lang as evidence that you can actually do something progressive here...but not if you do 'that'.

Had we signed two young prospects on longer deals who would come on now and show something I think there would be slightly more patience with Heckingbottom but he's fucked up another aspect of his job

You have to think that if we lose to hull, he will be sacked! Any other club in the league that hasn’t sacked him already would do… but the riddler is a special breed

I don't think we will. They'll put it down to showing faith or whatever but I don't think the money is there.

@Heck Tuah

Remember our chat a few months ago when you said we'd need minor adjustments this coming summer whereas I replied that we'd need another overhaul of around 10-12 players?

Would be interested in your thoughts now.

Not baiting cos opinions change as much as the wind does. Just interested in your viewpoint now, if you now agree with me.

I agree with this Joan.

It became clear some time ago that the amount of effort being put into the games from some players was decreasing. That’s not acceptable, whether you’re a loan player or a contracted player. Football is different than any other workplace, but when supporters are travelling the length of the country to watch, the absolute minimum expectation is effort. I expect this regardless of any friction in the dressing room.

At one point in my life, I remember moving jobs and I had about 4 months where we knew I was going elsewhere and my boss said to me on my leaving do that she would always be grateful to me for carrying on putting in maximum effort up until the day I left. This shocked me, and all I could think of was that wasn’t that just normal? Same pay up to leaving day equals same effort!
