Heckingbottom

Yes, 100% it's a cesspit of a club and it's sad it's ended this way. Managers who go on these runs (especially after doing it the previous season) get fired, that's part and parcel of it.

He's been awful. It's as simple as that. By every measure, he's been a total disaster and that sheff Utd promotion now looks more and more like a Chris Wilder achievement more than anything.

I don't know if it's an impossible job. We've had such a run of bad managers now. Look at the signing of Lang as evidence that you can actually do something progressive here...but not if you do 'that'.

Had we signed two young prospects on longer deals who would come on now and show something I think there would be slightly more patience with Heckingbottom but he's fucked up another aspect of his job
That promotion has nothing to do with Wilder. He left in 2021 in the Premier League with them bottom of the league. Then Jokanovic got the job for the Championship season and they were still doing badly.

He can be given his flowers for turning that around and getting them up to 5th that season after taking over in November from around 17th, which does help by having good players for the league. But that doesn't make it a Chris Wilder achievement. Who's currently on the same points as us with a much better team.

But you can do that whilst also thinking he's not doing good enough for us right now. And can also say he did do well for us, as being where we was half way through the season, was higher than anyone expected. And the team was brimming with confidence and despite not blowing teams away, was able to be in the game with every team.

You was calling them your favourite manager duo in December. He's not all of a sudden become a shit manager since then. But it does seem he's unable to get the players out of this rut. Which it is on him to try and do that as it's his job to pull them out of it and get things going again. But is failing at.

@Heck Tuah

Remember our chat a few months ago when you said we'd need minor adjustments this coming summer whereas I replied that we'd need another overhaul of around 10-12 players?

Would be interested in your thoughts now.

Not baiting cos opinions change as much as the wind does. Just interested in your viewpoint now, if you now agree with me.
I think @Heck Tuah has more important matters to deal with right now, like changing his username 🫢

Anyone worked out what the manager enjoyed about the second half yet?

Probably the fact we should've at least got a point from the game with the chances we had and the fact Norwich didn't have any.

He obviously wouldn't have enjoyed the chances being comically fluffed though.

Hughes missed that header but aside from that there keeper could have been having a brew.

We didn't deserve a point and didn't get one.

You can have big chances without getting them on target.

Hughes had that header, then Smith had that whatever attempt you want to call it from 5 yards out which was harder to miss.

Based on the chances in the game, we did deserve at least a point. But we didn't get it because of errors made by our defence and GK, and then poor finishing.

No, not very well 😂

In short, it entirely depends on too many factors to really know. But yes, obviously I do now feel more will need to be done than I did when we were in the play offs all season long.

Out of contract - Cornell, Brady, Potts (?), Hughes, Lewis, Keane, Mawene, Pradic.

I feel like there's an obvious one in missing. Let me know if I've missed anybody, but they can all go. Wouldn't be surprised or upset to see Hughes stay, but would stink of that 1 season too many which we love to commit to.

Not long ago I would have kept Potts too as a squad/utility player. He can go - no longer up to the standard required.

Loan players will almost certainly all leave and not return - Devine, Dobbin, Jebbison, Lukovic.

Contracted players we should and could realistically allow to move on - Smith, Lindsay, Osmajic if he's not getting a renewal (probably will).

It's my view that we've got a bloated squad right now. I think it's a good thing to have 2 or 3 senior players not making the squad but the quality of said players is not good enough. Too many are well passed their best (Potts, Brady) or just not good enough (Lukovic, Lewis).

3 loanees need replacing. Potts and Brady can probably be replaced by a single player (Kitt Nelson?). Hughes needs replacing if he goes.

The rest...they offer so little that I'm not sure they need directly replacing. This is where a proper academy or something resembling forward planning would come in handy so we could flesh out the squad with young players instead of journeymen.

Any contracted regulars who leave would need replacing but that depends on what we decide to do with them.

I expect somewhere between 6-10 (wide range I know) but so much depends on what decisions are made. No doubt we'll end up stuck with a few of the ones that need to go (Potts, Lindsay, Smith).

Bit of a ramble - not sure if it makes much sense. But there we are.

Wondered when this would come up. Will just change Heck to Hawk. Be reet.

Oh and i missed off Iverson's injury which was actually one of the main factors - Doh!
Too much vino! 😂
I disagree with the Iverson one. As good as he is, Cornell did nothing wrong and wasn’t responsible for any of the shocking performances. Similarly, you could also argue that Iverson has conceded 4 in his two matches since returning.

Going off the highlights alone Whiteman missed a decent chance with his head, Jebbison in the first half, Dobbin worked himself a good shooting opportunity at 2-0 in addition to the two you mentioned.

Not all of them are clear cut chances but on another day they go in and as the saying goes - goals change games.

Potentially clutching at straws yes, but I don't see a team who have given up or not playing for the manager.

Feels like a while since last time we took the lead in a game. We've become so easy to score against and haven't really looked like getting back into games when we do go down either.

I think we might see a slightly different dynamic and a bit more confidence if we did go in front. But that seems to be completely eluding us, despite starting some of the games we'll.

As others have said, at least we did create a few chances yesterday. On another day its a point on the road. Can't quite believe we missed those two massive chances. That is the way it's going at the moment and it's horrible.

I do think if this game had happened in the first half of the season, it would've been seen differently. But as it's a 2-0 that's apart of a bad run of results and performances, it's kinda seen as all part of the same. Which I get. It's natural to do so as it is a 2-0 loss during an awful run.

Iversen ofiah small mccann (would be useful in a decent squad) Gibson back up, the rest can fuck off - we can't face watching Potts again next season (the club never announced his inevitable extension) Hughes storey whiteman etc.

Reading some of these posts it appears the players have become too damned precious to take instructions from an experienced manager. Maybe they need to listen more and roll eyes and tantrum less because they have played no better than a bunch of overgrown schoolboys for the entire of 2026 (Bristol City excluded) they concede very easily and can’t score for toffee. Hard luck boys that’s how the world works in the workplace you are not always going to like what you get.

so PH is the best and should never take any blame?????

I don't believe PH is a bad manager and I would trust him with resources if they ever became available. He probably feels he's fighting a losing battle already and naturally it wouldn't surprise me if his appetite and motivation is slowly draining at an impossible task.

It wouldn't surprise me if he does go that in 12-24 months time we see him at a more progressive, ambitious club fighting for the play offs - and as we are currently doing now with Alex Neil we look back at what we had.

The epitome of our club right now is the fact we lined up once again with a defence which included Hughes, Storey and Lindsay - arguably not good enough when the signed but yet remain here after 5+ years - it wouldn't happen at any other club in this league and yet people still blame the management.

The sooner more pressure is put on the owners to sell up, the better.
