Heckingbottom

Can't wait to go from everybody enjoying the media attention/circus he'll bring to the Scouse fraud and jobs for the boys accusations all over again.

Especially when young Harry starts getting Lowe style cameos.

I don't think you can really compare Gerrard to Lowe other than the fact they're both from Liverpool.

Just saying I don't see a reason to be totally against it. His record so far in management is fairly similar to Lampard's really and he's not done too bad at this level this season.

Sorry, I wasn't being critical! Just poking fun at how fickle football fans are (I mean look how quickly Hecky went from "back this manager right now or regret it" to "taxi for Heckingbottom the Yorkshire pudding."

And many people have a built in hatred for scourers too, as became evident under Lowe, so it doesn't take long for the insults to fly.

Gerrard would certainly be an interesting appointment either way. I'm not convinced it would necessarily be the correct one, but I wouldn't be against it either. No doubt he would bring a certain pull and star quality to the club, as well as an obvious strong connection to LFC.

I think much may revolve around having the right coaching team around him. Rooney did well at Derby under the circumstances but failed elsewhere when he didn't have Cole and Rosenior on his staff.

I wouldn't be against Gerrard if he had a good coaching team around him. Things went downhill for him at Villa when Beale left.

If he brought Beale with him or Ian Foster I'd be happy with that.

Certainly in the short term, no matter what the finances look like when the takeover hopefully completes, as ever we’re going to need someone very capable tactically who can get blood out of a stone.

Heckingbottom ain’t that guy and I don’t think Gerrard is either.

Having him as a figurehead would certainly be interesting but unless he comes with some very strong background staff then I’m far from convinced.

The stats are not impressive at all, but equally we never seem to play as utterly shit as we did under Lowe.

Although we didn't get pumped 4-0, Saturday was as bad as anything Lowe served up.

Negative team selection, clueless tactics, terrible subs and players who couldn't care less.

Two years in the job and - despite some Premier League talent on board - we've barely progressed at all.

I don't think the players couldn't care less. Some of those players are league 1 standard players and are trying to compete in one of the hardest leagues in English football. The fault lies with the owners who refuse to invest more money. Its that simple. All the successful teams invest and invest well and strong at the right times.

there is little doubt that McBurnie and Price were willing to come to Pne, they were at the ground to sign but we refused to pay the wages and they went elsewhere and I don't blame them for that.

the owners are running us into the ground and this season we got away with it but next season with the same old I really fear for our survival in this league.

Just because this guy might buy us he won't be able to pump millions into the squad due to the FFP rules. People say how come Rovers can spend more than us. one big reason is their academy, they produced WHARTON for nothing and sold him for £23million to palace, thats profit and a percentage can be spent on new players.

Who have we produced and how much have we made on them?

Fair enough. I didn't go, I was away with work, and felt no real pain about missing it.

So I am not singing from the same hymn sheet.

To be fair, I thought we'd at least give WBA a game and maybe build on our recent upturn in form, how wrong i was. One of our weaknesses is our lack of consistency.

Let’s hope our time will come over the next decade. I’ve waited six decades hopefully it will be lucky 7.
Key word is hope as opposed to expectation.
I think we all have hope, let’s ‘hope’ that in the not too distant future, we can have the ‘glory’ to accompany it.

we didn't really lay a glove on them till added time when we could and should have had 2 goals but that would have been a travesty.

What really hacks me off about Hecky is that when we need a spark or something different he brings SMITH on , when that happens I just give up.

We have a young lad on loan who was thrown in at the deep end and struggled , but now we are safe why not give him another chance and lets see what he can do and perhaps earn a deal for next season.

I am fed up with these non sensical pityfull substitutions that very rarely come off.

Hecky has had 2 seasons now, we just scraped out of relegation last season and this season since the turn of the year we have been woeful. That's enough time for me and its time for a change.

I didn't like Lowe due to his arrogance and he was very predictable.

If Gerrard was to come in he would have pulling power for sure but his off field interests are a real concern.

For me Lee Carsley would be brilliant if he would take the job, but it certainly needs change, Hecky, McCall and Murphy all need replacing

Ouch. Still shows the issue he has with too many draws though, with his record with the no1 GK.

Then buy a decent #2, either an up and coming 21 year old or an experienced 32 year old Prem 2nd / 3rd choice keeper.

Bin both Cornell (OoC) and Walton off this summer. Walton might have to be a Loan as I can't think who'd take him at a decent level on a Perm.

They did try to buy a decent number 2 by getting Walton.

He came with decent reputation off the back of his season at Dundee United. Just hasn't turned out well so we ended up using Cornell again.

I wonder what Brian Barry Murphy would have achieved here?

What are Gerrard's off the field interests? Punching people?

I think BBM's appointment at Cardiff would have suited him more as it's easier in league 1 to build a philosophy and style of play.

However I think at this stage, more would be buying into the BBM way. I think a major issue with PNE is there's little to no reason to believe we will be better in 12 or 24 months. It will be the same.

By lowering the age range of Cardiff and providing an entertaining way of playing, their fans will buy into it. We'll have Lang carting about for a game then out for three all next season. It's just kind of hopeless.

I just want a manager not married to 5 at the back who likes playing and signing young lads. I would take even lower in the table if we were doing that as it represents progression.

Also, lessen the managers role within the institution. They come in, motivate players and play a great system whilst bringing on developing players. At PNE, it's always 'appoint X and pray'. Gerrard would be fine but only if appointed with a proper back room staff, a clear way of playing, proper new young transfers and a director of football.

It's not the 70s, do things properly

Let's say for a moment you are Zedan, he will be taking his appointments seriously, people with ability and and more than likely a worldwide name as manager. After watching us perform under the current set up, I can't see the present set up being retained (including Ridsdale), I guess Abbot, Robinson, Ben and Zoe will be useful with departmental hand over. I hope the present commercial staff are given the tools to do the job.
Exciting times
Leaving aside the footballing side, apart from PR I wouldn’t see any benefit in changing the administration team. From what I see they do a great job and it would just be change for change’s sake. A new CEO yes with some new ideas and a Director of Football would be a good start.

Right, you have to have some willingness to suffer some early pain for long term progress, if you want to escape the stagnant water treading that we currently have.

One of the big things Lincoln have done from listening to the NTT20 podcast (and they've always lauded them for this), is to actually explain those things to fans that may seem on the surface counter intuitive but trying to create buy in over a long period.

They also talked a lot about how, whilst excellent, the story of their success isn't a Brian Clough style managerial wonder appointment. It's as much about all the other things they have done alongside good managerial appointments that have created this.
