Heckingbottom

Gordon was all sizzle no steak when he was here. If he's actually managed a single goal contribution, then he probably would have played more.
He was, but he was in and out of the team too so I don’t think we had a clear picture of him.

And obviously hindsight is 20/20 so I can point to his talent now, but even then he was a highly rated youngster we maybe should have played more.

I think I dragged us off topic but it’s interesting to look back on. I’m pro Neil by the way in general.

Me too..some of the decisions were made though. Josh Murphy was here at the same time and he's more than held his own when fit for Pompey at this level and he never played either

Interesting read, but I’m non the wiser whether you’re Heckingbottom out or in.For the avoidance of doubt I’m 💯 Heckingbottom out.His style of football is WITHOUT A MIDFIELD and outdated and contradictory to strengths of the players the club has recruited. It’s not progress enough to play players out of position and then play them in their position and then claim to be the reason for that player’s improvement

With investment, I'd personally keep PH on..hes shown he knows a player, whatever the budget he has.
It’s a hard one - his record atm is abysmal, his subs can sometimes be atrocious but the first half of the season does kinda prove he can manage the team and makes you wonder what he could do with proper owners with proper investment.

If it came to it, I’d think I’d back the new regime in whatever decision they would decide when they come in because above the manager we would have a new ownership group with a plan and hopefully a new functioning hierarchy below the owner.

I’m not expecting miracles under the first season under a new regime, so keeping hecky wouldnt massively change my opinion on their decision making but also a new regime is a perfect time for a clean slate across the board.

Would all depend on what Zedans plan is.

The manager splits opinion, and I fully understand why some might be keen for a change. New investment, completely fresh start. Don’t like the back five. Don’t like his disciplinary record etc.

But any suggestion that the players aren’t playing for him, or that they’ve lost trust in him, is obviously complete bollocks. We’ve just played two teams in three days, away from home, who have spent £30m + on each of their squads, and beat them both on xG and coming away with three points.

Yes Smith being one of them he might not have wanted him but he brings him on every week for his appearance bonus. Get rid before he drags us further down

Have we forgotten the months of February and March?

Murphy was the year after under Frankie. Even weirder cos Frankie signed him because he knew him

See Heckingbottom has again pointed to the lack of funds, even saying:

“Why can’t we sign these loan players and build, instead of ripping it up again?”
That tells its own story.

It’ll be interesting to see what any new ownership is thinking on the management side.

Hecky and McCall clearly know something is shifting and are starting to make their position known publicly about what they’d want.

If Zedan is at Deepdale again next week, you’d imagine there’ll be some kind of conversation.

Does he deserve a chance under new ownership? Will you put a poll on the thread, see what the general consensus is, JK?

if there is a takeover I think it would be sensible for Zeden to give Hecky and McCall a chance. However I doubt that would happen. He’ll probably have a team of football advisors and knowing how all incestious that business is they’ll have their pals who they’ll be tapping up. Also I can’t see H & M appealing to Zeden; he looks a flash chap and will probably want more of a name and someone who’ll be over promising and stroking his ego.

How well do you know Zeden?

Why would you only judge him on the shite form with Iversen out, and not the rest of the season for context?
I haven't, it was just an example. Also, as I've said before, the poor form started after the win v Swansea on Nov 5th - it just accelerated from mid Jan until the Stoke game.
It's still arguably unforgivable to have gone from fourth in Jan to a brief but genuine worry over relegation.
I'm not particularly bothered either way if he stays or goes, but I don't want to be in the same position of feeling sticking pins in my eyes would be more entertaining than watching Hecky ball for a run of 15 games or so.

Quite clear that Hecky and McCall know change is coming. They are blatantly criticising the current owners - good.

I don’t think they should get the chance but I admire them for coming out fighting when they know there’s a nice pay off anyway.
Knowing there is a nice payoff coming either way doesn't make their stance very admirable in my eyes. If the takeover wasn't in the offing they wouldn't have said a word.

Just an opinion from what I’ve seen. But that’s what we need as a takeover candidate. Any grounded sensible investor would run a mile when looking at the numbers from a financial point of view. You need someone with a big ego with a lot of cash who thinks he can break the mould so bring it on and maybe he sees it as status symbol.
