You've got my number pal if you need anything, a lift, a favour, a chat, literally not arsed what it is, give me a shout if you need to. Stay strong, can't think of better motivation to battle than the birth of a child.

Keep your pecker up.

I think he did that 9 months ago!

All the best @stf4ever, I really hope it works out for you as everyone on here does.

Thank you all for the messages. The support really means the world and is one of the reasons I keep coming back to update this thread.

I've decided if the baby is born whilst I'm receiving treatment next week that there will not be a better welcome home gift than that.

Keeping positive currently, I will come back and request help if that deteriorates. And there's a high chance of that, considering the doctor has banned me from smoking from today (and I aim to follow her advice).
On the smoking, I was on 30 a day until Mrs LiS got pregnant with our first. I vowed that I wasn’t going to smoke with a baby on the way so I stopped a few weeks before he was born. Just think of your little one on the way when you’re gasping for a smoke, it will help a lot. It made the difference for me, I’d tried everything up to then and failed.

I’m a weirdo when it comes to smoking…… I smoke one a day.

The last time I went to Menorca I bought 200 and they will last me more than 6 months !

Beginning to lose a bit of patience with the NHS now! After the balls up (excuse the pun) over my surgery date, I thought they would make sure everything went smoothly. However, after being informed that chemo would start tomorrow, I haven't heard a thing about where I need to go and what time. So over the course of Friday and today I've rang the Rosemere reception desk 40 times without answer. As I had another appointment today at the chest clinic, I thought I'd go early so I could go to the Rosemere centre and ask.

Originally when I met the oncologist last week, she said my start date for chemo would be 18th October. After I told her that that is the due date for our child she made a few phone calls and said I could start on the 11th as an inpatient.

Well, I've just been told by the man on reception that I'm still booked in for the 18th. So having mentally prepared myself for what was going to happen, I'm going to have to go again for next week now.

Sorry for the mini rant. Just frustrated.

How incredibly frustrating for you, and I don't think anyone would think you were unjustified in having a rant. It's probably a good mechanism to share those frustrations here.

Your little one will be here soon and the chemo will start one way or another too.

I think you have shown incredible resilience, humour and positivity in how you have shared your story and incredible bravery too.

There's a lot of posters and lurkers I reckon who think an awful lot of you and your family and are rooting for you with the joy, and challenges to come.

Just missed a phone call, rang voicemail to get my message.

"We're sorry for the delay today, on the inpatient ward we sometimes struggle for bed space and as soon as one becomes available we will let you know."

What the fuck is happening?! I was told yesterday that I'm not in for another week!!

On match days, just before you enter the stadium? 🙂

Just started the chemo now. Brave faced it for my partner and my mum who are both in tears, but truth be told I'm cacking myself a little.

I'm on a ward with Jack and Nigel. Both around 80 years of age. According to their boards, Jack can't see and Nigel gets confused. Might be a sitcom come out of this.

All the best - hope it goes well!

Swap their boards around for a bit of fun. Jack won’t be able to see what you’re doing anyway and it’ll drive Nigel nuts (don’t let the nurses catch you)
