How brave was that team selection today?

How brave was that team selection today?

Sounds like we needed to get a grip in central midfield early on and a duo of Wroe and Byrom was never going to do that. We obviously need Welsh back as soon as possible otherwise we need to start King there and partner Cummins with Beavon or Garner upfront.

We started with King and Byrom in there with Jeff up front - although it seemed like King was doing the work of 3 men!

The selection concerns me when looked at in conjunction with the leaders programme notes and his interview on the radio. He said that he picked players who live and breathe what it takes - I haven't a clue what that is but the lack of Buchanan, Garner and Beavon (unless injured) suggests that he doesn't think they live and breathe 'it'.

Oh, not you as well. This is like invasion of the bodysnatchers. Turning things round is never easy. That was an awful lot better today. Sacking the manager will not help, why not back him until the end of the season.

I never mentioned sacking the Manager (though I would not complain if we did) I just thinks its sad that we have sunk so low.

Exactly surf. The atmosphere was better for a change. Perhaps all the moaning cunts have decided to stay away?

Anyway, motm for me was a toss up between cummins, Davies and stuckmann.

Yep. Im a moaning cunt and I stayed away as Westley set a new record in our history.

Go ahead and happy clap us to oblivion, you tool.

Respect to those who went on AND to those who stayed away - we all want the same thing, we just disagree on how it will be achieved.

You may think it's cheering a tosser who has wrecked the club and not delivered a home win since September.

I'd rather see him out before he takes us into League 2, personally.

Moan over.

It's not a justification but it is a fact and it is a period that is indelibly etched on my mind. After 50 years of disappointment I expect fuck all and that is what we get for the most part.

There is not really much point being in the league at all then. No wonder we are losing fans so consistently they expect nowt and get nowt, told not to complain, accused of being impatient and not singing loud enough (like there is something to sing about). Good club eh!!!🙄 Worse still, we expect the kids to keep the club going in the future, dear me I bet they are excited at the prospect.

Not getting at you PNEESSEX just letting off some steam😱

I went on today even though I was seriously considering giving it a miss after the Walsall game. Given what we've had served up in the previous 4 home games then today was champagne football.

After 25 minutes I was seriously regretting attending but then we scored with perhaps our first fluent move of the match. I believe we've got the players to play exciting winning football, however, I don't believe we've got the manager to get the players to deliver this.

If Westley stays then we'll pick up enough draws and the odd win to see us safely to 50-odd points, but then the question of season ticket sales comes into it with many people predicting sales to fall to between 3,000-4,000.

Anyway, at least we'll save a few quid on not re-doing the pitch as Westley was no doubt thrilled with its performance today.

It may have been a brave team selection, but when I saw the team sheet, my immediate thought was that Westley has lost several of his players, and the team selection was made out of desperation.

That said, the team gained a creditable point against an in form away team, who had won 6 of their last 7 away games in the league.

When PNE employed Westley, I was very pleased with the appointment. In the pre season, I was very pleased with the type of players that were brought to the club, but I find it very poor when a Manager is allowed to bring in ALL his own players, and then fails to Manage/ Man Manage them properly.

In the early stages, the players showed signs of togetherness and were evolving nicely as a team and put in some very good performances, until Westley decided to fall out with various players and mis-manage them.

When Westley brought Elding to the club and immediately placed him ahead of Sodje, Cummins & Beardsley, what sort of message does it send out to those players? A very poor piece of business imo and a very poor piece of man management. That was a big mistake, but he then makes the same mistake by bringing Luke Foster to the club and immediately putting him ahead of Huntington, Robertson and Cansdell Sherrif. If those 2 mistakes weren't enough, he prefered to give a 17 year old centre half his league debut at left back, and keep last years league 1 left back player of the season on the bench. In my eyes, that is professional suicide.

Why make a simple job very difficult?

The team selection should be relatively easy.

Stuckmann is the goalie
We only have Connolly and Buchanan as full backs.........so that's where they should play.
Choose any 2 from Huntington: Robertson: Wright: Cansdell Sherrif for the 2 Centre Half positions, and stick with them.
Choose any 2 from Welsh: King: Wroe for centre midfield
Jeff & Holmes on the wings with Beavon & Garner as the front two with Cummins & Beardsley in reserve. That should be the nucleus of the first team at the moment and to fill any gaps caused by injuries.

Westley needs to realise that he now manages a top regarded football club, and there is no need to employ a minder at PNE. If I was Westley, Dino would be told to leave and he would be replaced by someone who can actually coach players.

Honestly I couldn't give a fuck what you think. I know that I'll be there regardless every home game. Whilst I'm not concerned whether that makes me a better fan than you or not, I do know that I won't just turn my back on the club because we have a wanker as a manager.
It's the club we support, not the manager and to call me a happy clappy fan is a fucking insult. Call yourself a pne fan? You're not. You're a fan of a winning team whose manager you might like.

Fickle fuck.

Exactly! We support the club Preston North End. I go whenever I can, regardless of the manager or style of football. I'm not a "super fan", I just back my team.

Jolly you been the pub ? Calm down, staffordshire is wrong in his comments happy clap us to oblivion as we all have our opinions. However if he feels by staying away that it benfits the club that is his perogative.
I will always back my club, not always the manager, the chairman, the owner . Stafforddshire a fan, yes ,but just not of the management structure and set up of our club at present. 😉

Amen to that brother!

So although we know which team we think is better, based on the following facts which team is?

we draw against a team that has won 5 from 6 away before that game and costs similar to ours
we lose 3-0 against a team that has been indifferent at best and costs a fraction of ours

Imagine then my surprise when people want to repeat the mistakes of the second team.

I am sure we will see a very different side at Crawley on Tuesday night.

Spot on.When a draw at home is seen as a cause for overblown celebration, we have had it.
Up to slection time today I thought we might as well give him the rest of the season, now I think damage limitation, get rid quick.

What?

One of the 'poor teams' would be the one that had just won five on the trot, including wins against Spurs and top of the table Tranmere would it?

You weren't there! On the day, Coventry didn't perform to their best. I can say that as I've seen teams play at their best, yet lower in the league, and still made us look shit!
