How do we solve a Mads problem?

How do we solve a Mads problem?

You can say exactly the same thing about , Storey, Lindsay , and Hughes take a touch look up sidefoot it sideways, or back to Iverson then do exactly the same thing again before Hughes hoofs it down the line far too slow allowing all the forwards to be marked with little space and out numbered .
Difference is Mads is meant to be a creative attacking midfielder.who creates chances and chips in with a decent amount of goals...
Not a defender who's main job is to defend.
I really like Mads but he's just so inconsistent, especially for a team hoping to try and challenge for a top 6 spot, where you have to be on your game all the time.
Can see why PH doesn't seem to trust him as the others in his position

Everytime he got the ball yesterday he stopped, any forward momentum ended and wigan got back into shape. With dobbin and jebbo through the middle and small and pol wide last night he should have been playing them through quickly not stopping and passing to the defence (or just out).

After his one attempted flick that went to a wigan player mccann screamed at him (in frustration?)
At least I don’t recall him passing the ball back to Iversen who immediately put his foot on the ball and stood still and completely stopped the game . I don’t think I’ve seen a game where everyone was so guilty of receiving the ball , stopping and passing backwards . ( it was a plague on the game on Friday night ) I remember being bollocked by a top coach if you receive the ball do not stand still it stops your team mates too ..

I was more pointing out , how slow the ball is coming from the back doesn’t help Mads or the forwards they end up with little space and a full midfield and defence in front of them . I am not defending Mads at all he has been very poor for a while now and yes if a decent bid came in I think we should sell exactly like what we are doing with Thor 🤞.

It went back to Iverson because of the 2 missing midfielders, the defenders had no outlet, the ball came back to them, Wigan pressed high, back to Iverson and then long clearance….

Realistically I can’t see us wanting to offer him a new deal, nor do I think he’s done anything to earn or warrant one so his value is just decreasing every window.

There’s no doubt he’s a good player but if we can I think we should be trying to get rid either in January or the summer.

If we are still under the same ownership in the summer, selling Mads would be madness - unless we have been promoted.

We desperately need a new pitch as a priority.

All of our loanees will need replacing - and there's no guarantee that their replacements will perform as well or hit the ground running.

We need a new permanent Championship quality striker. We also need to move on and replace Lindsay and Potts, and possibly also Hughes.

There will be too many demands on the budget to be selling Mads and funding a replacement of a higher quality.

He's gash, i could never understand the Hoddle comparisons and love for him, he is a liability, and he looks like a shoe-maker.

Only 2 games since he was outstanding off the bench at Bristol City. He’s had several really good cameos this season. To say he’s not good enough is just plain wrong. I’d say he’s not consistent enough, certainly.

I think he’s a really good player to have as an option in a squad as devoid of creativity as ours has been and still is outside of Dobbin and Devine.

Just like our Irish project our Scandinavian project hasn’t succeeded either bar Iversen.

Unfortunately Mads just isn’t good enough for this level, I’d try and get rid in the summer.

Don't think that it's the country we are shopping in that matters, think that it's the fact that we are usually rummaging in the bargain basement.

What do we do with a player who looks unhappy? Give him more game time to find some form or admit that we should try to sell this window whilst there's any potential money to be recouped?
Sell him for whatever we can get.

It’s been long enough now; it isn’t going to work for either party.

Still baffles me that we didn’t take the money. I know we’d have struggled to replace him in time in that window but it must be one of our worst bits of non-business ever.
Yep, selling him for reported fee was a no brainer. Points to the lack of clarity in whatever the fuck the transfer strategy is.
