With most of the focus at the moment being on the "C" word, and most face to face appointments with GPs and social care workers being cancelled at the moment, how are we all?

I found myself being unnecessarily angry yesterday at nothing in particular, and this morning strangely weepy at songs on the radio. (Late 90's UK Garage is not known for it's emotional tear-jerkers!)

Took myself off for a walk and a long think in the sun earlier and realised how much the lack of social interaction was affecting me, almost without noticing. Missing family, no work banter, no structure, no advice from social services anymore... I'm sure I'm not the only one!

So, how are you doing? How are you finding things in these strange times?!

Thanks for asking👍🏻

Furloughed from work for nigh on a month.

Apart from half an hour here and there in the back garden I’ve not left the house.

Youngest lad pretty much living on his x-box and for me there’s only so much tv you can watch, I’m extremely bored.

End of the day the 4 of us are healthy, that’s all that matters to me🙏🏻

Good days and bad days mate.

Luckily I'm very busy with work and my recent musical purchases are keeping the block dog away for the time being.

It's a challenge though that's for sure.

Yeah I've had a bit of a dark period, but been trying to keep myself busy tying flies for fishing and finding new music. Annoyingly during this lockdown, I have no garden but my house backs out on to a field and a river... Yet because of the restrictions I can walk along the river but I'm not allowed to fish it (despite having paid £200 a year for the right to!)

The one thing that calms me and resets the whirring chaos in my head I am prevented from actually doing!

It’s lovely Babbage that you took the time to ask, thank you.

i think I’m quite similar to you, I can cry at anything especially the 99 year old that walked round his garden 100 times. My patience threshold is not very good to start with but its now stretched to silly levels. I miss socialising very much. I miss my family and I so miss hugging my little great grand son. It’s ok FaceTiming but nothing is better than a hug of love.

Oddly, my stress is just the same as it is in normal times, possibly less so with having to run around less, as I’m doing my work/study from home pretty much as nornal. Wife and daughter have had struggles with it, but son seems to be coping ok (long story). I think it greatly depends on what your mental health issues are, and what coping mechanisms you use. If it’s depression, and getting out reduces that then I can see why people are struggling.

On that note if anyone wants to talk then drop me a note.

My dad is going through similar Joan. While facetime is far more personal than a text or a call it is still somewhat lacking and we had a new addition (great-grandson) at the weekend too so I think not being able to hold him is tough for both my sister and dad.

I hope your Dad gets to see his great grandson very soon. my little one is 2 in June, he shares his birthday with my husband. Just when you think you can’t possibly love someone else as well, along comes another little heart stealer. Your Dad will absolutely love his time with the new baby as will you all. Congratulations I’m really happy for you.

Thanks. To quote a very great man "There is a crack in everything, thats how the light gets through." Even in the darkest times we are always sent something to give us hope and joy.

Same here, Paddy, it's the worst thing. My son puts our twin grandchildren on video call but they are only 1 and too young to really realise what it is - we are just hoping they won't have forgotten who we are by the time we get to see them. We've had to watch footage of them take their first steps etc, rather than be able to see them actually do it. It's heartbreaking for us at times.

Having read this thread I think it is very important that although we may wake up feeling grumpy and getting angry at things we may not normally get angry at (i'm no different) please do not reply to posts if feeling this way and lash out as we don't know how it will affect the person we are aiming our replies to. Yesterday I went out for a long quiet walk to do some shopping rather than take the car just to clear my head, etc and to keep off here.

I'm not getting at anyone but responding when angry doesn't do ourselves or anyone else any good and it doesn't make a Mod's life any better either. Thanks

yes that’s one of my fears that he will forget us. I hope you get to see them very soon.

I've been furloughed for three weeks now. To be honest, I was glad for it as I was pretty exhausted with going up and down the country for 60 hours or more a week since Christmas. Thought it might give me some much needed rest and get my body clock back into UK timezone after constantly getting up at 1.30am for work.

Body clock still not changed and finding myself having to go back to bed for an hour after lunch.

I started the furlough off in good spirits (I'd ordered some paint to be delivered a few days prior, in anticipation that it might happen...paint still not here but it's not really that important in the grand scheme of things.
Really hate having to go out for anything at the shops to be honest, and I've done very little exercise outdoors, but I need to do it now as I'm getting totally demotivated and a little bit of anxiety creeping in. I have indoor hobbies but even those can only keep you occupied for so long.

I live in an apartment with a shared garden (very nice it is too) but again, I'm not wanting to go and mix with others, even at the recommended distance, at the moment.

I'm lucky in the fact that I don't have kids, so I've not got the same worries and pangs as most of you on here. It can get a little lonely but this community on here is a good outlet.

I imagine there's some of you that are a lot harder hit by it all than I am. And I can't even imagine what Bobbage went through. I think I'd be absolutely terrified, and for me, I'm happy enough to be bored out of my skull than suffer what he went through.

I definitely need to get out though, I'm piling weight on like I've never done before in my life!

I hope you all get to see your loved ones very soon and all safe and well.

Look after yourselves!
