Iain Hume.

Iain Hume.

Just remind me of the title of the thread again, I could have sworn it was 'Iain Hume' not 'Ass lickers defending the Old Regime'

That's what I'm saying. The word I heard was "rushed". Remember how we all thought Trotman was a steal at that price?

Did we? He was a young centre half who'd played in less than 20 footbal league games who we paid half a million for. It sounded like a lot of money to me.

Mind you, the suggestion made to me that there was a brown envelope involved, although I scoffed at the time doesn't sound so fanciful now. In fact, throughout Irvine's reign there were some very strange transfers taking place.

What was it that ML said at the forum? Was it not along the lines that certain players (e.g Trotman and Parry) were signed despite their medical problems being known about?

NO, Magic alluded to the signings being "waved through" the medical, he did not name names specificaly, but you kind of knew who he was on about. Lindsay was quite clever at pointing the finger but not saying what he really thought IMHO, maybe because he was talking shite!!!!!

We signed Fuller and Mellor knowing about their previous injury problems, a bit like Portsmouth and Stoke have done with Fuller. Gazza had quite a career after his knee injury, medicals will have been done and teams will have taken a risk on many players, maybe PNE are just the same, but to point the finger at professional people when palyers with injuries are signed all the time was just "point scoring" from Magic.

Accepting all of that Billy, why would he need to? What exactly, (if the current and previous regimes all finished on good terms, and indeed, the previous were ask to stay on to advise the current), would be the point? There is a lot left unanswered and posters on here making claims of speaking the truth, when they have never held any position at the club to be able to do so, does nothing to clear the air it just adds to the suspicion, so why has the right to reply not been taken?

so there saying the club deliberatly signed unfit players phew thats an heavy accusation can't see it myself. We had Nicky Foster once and were desparate to sign him but but had to knock him back because of an injury same with a couple of other players in the pass so your saying the club didn't do that in this case?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but was this not during Brian Gray's tenure, as I think it was Moyes that tried to sign him. I was also under the impression Forster snubbed us, and while we thought he was coming to sign, he pissed off with Butler and signed for Reading. I didn't think injuries were anything to do with it!

Perhaps some can rise above it Joan.

Mmmmm not sure Derek is one of those to be fair, he seemed unable to rise above anything posted on here judging from the phone calls he made. Having said that, its the past, people need to stop knocking Maurice to stop the inevitable knocking of Derek. Why don't we just trust Derek did his best and Maurice will do his (until proven otherwise) and support the club as a whole. Quite novel but hey, we could give it a go and worry more about one of our current players who suffered a nasty injury yesterday.

Someone must be using Joans login, or she is being held against her will, call the police.

May take more that a couple of paracetamol to get Hume right again. The courage of this guy to put his head where others wouldn't put there foot amazes me.

Its definitely me. You see if you were as fair minded as your claim you would see, I never called Derek one name, never accused him of anything. I have questioned lots but the very fact that even questions were defended like I was an arch enemy, makes people wonder why. If you look at my previous posts, I have given Derek credit for plenty but not once did any of his detractors feel the need to pick up on those it was always the questions. Now I wonder why, not really clever to surround yourself with people that do that is it? I even tried to tell Derek that once and the abuse I got was unbelievable. Mind, I am a bigger person and can rise above it😛

just asked him and got this back
"think hes fine hes had a few stitches n that"

thanks a lot, Iain Hume is so important to us. I dont think he will be able to play the next game though because of his head injury, even if he feels ok. I (and am sure I speak for most) wish him well very, very soon.

It is only natural for Derek Shaws friends to defend him, but it does make you wonder if it's more than just friendship and that waiting room and co, have actually lost out on anything personally since ML became chairman.

Christ, Hume will have more stitches in his head than are in an old pair of knickers from Mike Baldwins factory.

Ian Hume is a top fella, he could very easily of took his insurance and packed it all in, but instead he seems to be even more committed than ever to be a success.

I for one am glad he is playing for us, and not against us 🙂

Well said John, you put in words exactly what I think.
