Is Lowe evolving?

Is Lowe evolving?

I think he will. Oli on FTF makes a great point: Browne is essentially a niche player, a deep lying striker rather than a number 10, hence the 12 goal haul under Neil.

I'm pleased Browne is continuing his good form
Not playing with the running 8’s and McCann in a deeper role ratting round and Browne further forward makes us look a much better team. Long may it continue.

I think the evidence of RL evolving was there for everyone to see today
Fantastic work Ryan and lads 👏
Fully agree. Viva la evolucion.
Lowe reacted really well as it was clear Best was struggling today. Change of personnel/formation and Swansea had the stuffing knocked out of them. This is a real development from last season when things were just allowed to run an increasingly predictable course: evolution indeed.
Apologies Sedge for being lukewarm about your suggestion last week.

If we want to get the best from Browne we need to get him forward and ensure there isn’t too much onus on him creatively. He will get into dangerous positions in and around the box and he will score goals but he’s never going to be the one pulling the strings.

Maybe Lowe is taking advice from his assistants, Marsh and Murphy, his stubbornness of sticking to the rigid 3-5-2, 5-3-2 just wasn't working and things are changing, last season our home form was absolute shit, so something has changed. Lowe evolving or listening to those around him, be good if he was evolving, but just as good if he is listening to advice and learning from that?

Think this is more like it. Wasn’t Murphy quite animated and involved on the touch line today? That’s a great sign imho.

But whatever the reason long may it continue.

I've not been a fan of Browne for around 18 months or so now, probably back to the days of Frankie. Stale is the word I'd have thought.

However, he has had a really really strong start this season. Fair play.

It really could be something as simple as having Mads, McCann and now Holmes alongside him in the midfield. Freshness.

Rejuvenated is the word.

Well played Browne.

Played well in those 30 minutes after the change and moving away from the 3 at the back shape. The first time we've really moved away from the usual shape this season, but arguably he had no other choice as we were playing chess and merely exchanging pawns first half. Credit to Lowe though, he's made sure we got the three points today and got his subs and changes right, at the right time.

I'm not getting over excited just yet, the four teams we've played so far in the league have won just two games between them so far and we're not creating loads of chances (or conceding chances either, Sunderland aside).

The squad needs additions this week and then if we can take 6+ points from these next 4 games we can then say we've had a great start.

Will Keane can't keep running himself into the ground every week. Some pick up for £100k, he's been excellent.

I thought going back to 3 at the back (Whatmough) and moving Hughes out to LWB for the final 10 or so minutes gave Swansea more attacking opportunities

Agreed. He used to so piss me off in interviews (nothing to do with accents or where he is from, I couldn't give a shit where anyone is from) but now he's really just more relaxed.

I've been a massive critic of Lowe and I'm fucking delighted for him that he's proving me completely wrong.

I like the setup. Mads, Holmes, Browne, just let them bomb forward to support Keane. It's so much less conservative this year. I think we need to temper expectations. We'll get beat but this is an amazing start and hats off to the gaffer and players.
I fully agree but would temper your comments by pointing out that it's early days yet.

It was interesting watching from behind the dug out, yeterday. Being stood by the pitch was rotated between Lowe, for the most part, and Murphy. Meantime sat just to the side, on the drinks box was Marsh who regularly passed notes to Lowe. There certainly seemed to be a lot more interaction between the coaches than at any stage last season.

Lowes success has been in the lower lagues, where hes done really well, hes now getting to grips with the championship which is a totally different kettle of fish.

Was certainly an attempt to shut up shop. Not sure they got anything clear cut though?
Yeah, I thought we looked a lot more vulnerable with the 4-at-the-back (as well as obviously more dangerous as well) - going back to the 5 was effectively "declaring" at 2-1, in the belief Swansea wouldn't be able to get through our standard defensive setup.

This is why I'm not sure starting games with 4-at-the-back is a straightforward option - we only played it for 20 minutes yesterday, and while it worked attacking-wise in that context (mid-game, both sides making subs), I think it also looked shaky at the back, and I doubt we would've lasted until the end of the game if we'd stayed like that.

A bit of columns A, B and C I think.

Better players, more willing to change, surrounding himself with good coaches.

He’s not the messiah tactically (yet) but it shows maturity at least to look to bolster our ranks with good ideas. Less ego this season

It’s been fairly well discussed on heee that we probably don’t have the bodies to play effectively with 4 at the back for any length of time but it’s nice to know that it’s an option.

I can’t think of many occasions when Lowe has attempted a shape-shift mid-game and it’s actually come off. Encouraging stuff.
