The site just wouldn’t allow me to edit a post because more than 5 minutes had passed since my post.
Are any other patrons seeing the same?

Got to be quick around here Reg.....Morning.
Patrons have always had five minutes to edit a post, whilst registered users only have a couple of minutes.

Also, plenty of people (like me) feel irritated if we’ve cocked up grammar, spelling, or miss out a key explanatory word - another benefit of giving people longer.
Afternoon!
That’s really absolutely not correct JK - well certainly not in the case of this particular patron! Maybe I am considered special 😉
For absolutely certain, the time limit has been about an hour. For months/years, I have edited posts virtually every single day more than 5 minutes after I posted - there’s no mistake - this week alone, I know I edited a post half an hour after I posted it.
It’s not possible for me to provide concrete proof. But for example, have a look at Post 61 on the Tokyo Olympics thread (link below). My post was made at a time when our triathlete had 4K to run - and then I edited the post with a review of the race after it had finished. That sort of approach works well for slow-moving threads about other sports - rather than creating a new post for every update.
I do that regularly- and I remember writing and later editing that triathlon post. If you’re not convinced by the content of the post, maybe your admin rights could show you the posting and editing history of that post - I am sure the date-stamps will prove it, if you have access to such information.

4K to go. Our Alex Yee is leading a group of about 7 or 8 front runners. Jonny Brownlee is hanging in there too. EDIT: Three broke away.. and of those, it was clear to me that Blummenfelt, the Norwegian, was the one who was going to drop off... Continually looking over his shoulder...www.pne-online.net
A similar one from this week - in the Test Cricket 2021 thread, post #1220. I am certain I edited that more than 10 minutes after I posted. The only evidence that I can see now is that there’s an automated mark to show I edited the post that day.
I am absolutely sure that my editing rights changed at some time between yesterday afternoon and 11.15pm last night.
You are absolutely correct Reg... It might have been an hour but it certainly wasn't five minutes.......... I quite like 5 minutes because all our cock ups stay in situ. 😀
I usually fall asleep if I'm honest 😉I think I was allocated a special amount of time because it’s rarely even possible to even READ my posts in 5 minutes-let alone find errors and correct them.
Mine used to be much longer (time allowed for editing @Sid Snot 😉) and is now a lot shorter like reg.
Same here, I noticed it had changed a few days ago.Me too - used to have much longer to edit. Just noticed it today.
I've been getting this message recently when trying to open certain threads. For example the "M60/61 now" thread.
I know it usually says this when a post or thread has been deleted, but I can see that new entries have been posted on the threads when I go back to the home screen - so they're definitely active when I try to access them.

I too would like to see the time for editing a post extended to a minimum of 10 minutes
Like me , you balls up a lot too eh ? 🙂
Ah… so when you regularly write a pile of tripe, it’s just a load of typos that you don’t have time to edit. Got you. 👍
