Saturday, half way through the game I suddenly lost it and no idea why.
I suddenly felt sort of calm, no aggression, no fire, no passion, no anger and not even sadness
Just acceptance I suppose. I've supported North End since the very early 1960's
Always passionate, ranting and raving at poor results and performances, cheering like mad at goals and victories

Right now I have no real interest, you can call me a shit fan if you like, but I never have been, I enjoyed Bristol City away, I even took my wife.
Wrexham was poor and a hard ride home on a train full of Wrexham fans but that's fooball.
Ups and downs, good days and bad days but somehow, and I don't know how, Saturday has changed me into someone I don't recognise.
Season ticket holder for many years but I just know I won't be going on Friday, I'm not even sure it I'll tune in to watch it on telly.
My intrest has just dissapeared and right now I don't seem that bothered. I hope it returns, maybe a decent performance/result on Friday will rekindle the embers of a sadly reduced fire for the team I've followed for 64 years.

Same tbh. I was on the fence about going as a load of my friends were going out drinking round Garstang at 3pm. Decided to go and when Millwall scored I just felt nothing, no anger or frustration. At that point, I knew I'd made the wrong decision.

Feels like until a takeover happens we're all just going through the motions, players, manager and fans.

I didn't go on Saturday, no reason really other than I just didn't want to. I knew we'd get beat.

Call me a shit fan but it does feel like a lot feel the same at the moment and as above I feel like a takeover and a change in mentality from top to bottom is required. We are stale, going nowhere fast.

Yeah, same. I haven't been been on since I left early during the Hull game.

Life is too short to punish yourself every weekend doing something you get increasingly diminishing enjoyment from.

The sentiment around the patch seems to be the same for everyone. It does become quite depressing when you look at other clubs and all the missed opportunities.

I would be more accepting if the gap was too much to cover but time and time again we’ve fallen short, without average investment.

We all know the key reasons why this is a rinse and repeat situation and so do they.

I’m not bothered this weekend as we are off to Barcelona, every cloud and all that.

That's exactly it from my point of view as a fan.

To be fair, I was the same. As soon as that second goal went in, I was off. But I wasn't raving mad, many times I have done what I call angry drive back down the '55.
Not Saturday, I was chilled, and reading the OP's comments, that was exactly how I felt. I have not been a fan as long as @SMURF , just started in the late 70's, so I have seen my fair share of shite, we are not that bad. It's just the whole lack of ambition that has done it for me.

I honestly feel the same. I stopped renewing my season ticket & car park space, which at £250 per season wasn't cheap, at the end of Lowe's last season. As the idiotic management didn't sack him when they should have, I lost the seat that i've had for donkeys years. I watch on tv when possible but can honestly say I don't miss sitting there freezing & once you lose the habit it is hard to get it back. Hemmings stole the club from the fans but apart from the Brian Gray tenure it has been mismanaged for many years. They are lucky to get the crowds that they do. The club is stagnent & until there is a complete change from the top downwards, it is always going to be the same.

Just before Covid struck in 2020, I was losing interest with attending a Deepdale that, for myself at least, felt unlit. Myself, someone who has attended over 100 Grounds with PNE. It was a chore attending. I felt no urgency within, no buzz.

Covid, personally from an attending PoV, saved me as it gave me a break from the game before it reappeared on iFollow which I viewed every game.

Finally re-attending in the flesh Post Covid, I felt re-booted and ready to go but whilst I am currently not at Feb / March 2020 Covid levels of losing interest, I am currently not at all arsed if I go or not this Friday.

I guess the malaise and let down of this season, coupled with turning 57 shortly, leaves me thinking "Seen It, Done It, Nothing Will Ever Change, What's The Point?" whilst The Family remain control.

I reckon people at other clubs will be feeling exactly the same as the replies on this thread.

Doesn't help that we barely score any goals in the recent seasons.

Oh!, to play with Wingers again. Vukcevic is the only player who currently excites me when on the ball, maybe Dobbin, too.

Modern Football is Shit.

I think it’s just the realisation that we appear to have screwed up and our season’s folded yet again - like an eternal fecking doom loop.

We’ll all be enthusiastic again at some point, but this club don’t half make it fecking difficult.

It's pretty much this. I've been like this pretty much every March to May since returning to this league.

Except last season, when I was actively frustrated and that flirtation with the play offs under Neil where I was excited.

But it's just that general acceptance that the season is over and we're going through the motions. It's hard to be passionate about any football really this time of year and am largely just going to spend time with family.

Having now done every away ground in this division too, I doubt I'll bother with any away day until next season when I can hopefully tick off Lincoln and West Ham/Tottenham Hotspur.

We are all in limbo because we've been in this state for a decade now. We need the takeover, and its feels like torture waiting for it. If it doesn't happen this summer, I am well and truly done. I still want us to win, that won't change, but the level of interest has waned massively over the last 3 years as our apathetic lack of ambition has become painfully obvious.

This week summed it up. I am away on Friday in Cheltenham for work, it is rare that I am away on a Friday. But I realized today that PNE are playing and it means I will be busy. I am weirdly looking forward to NOT watching us, and only finding out the result afterwards. In the past, I'd be making plans to be near a TV.

Ruud Gullit has hit out at the modern game of football.
“I have decided to stop watching football. I don't enjoy our sport anymore. I watched Arsenal vs. Chelsea, what an absolute garbage match of football! I see players trying to create corner kicks, trying to create throw-ins, I see ball boys ready to give towels to the players. Football has become absolutely horrible. I hope that this is not the path we are heading at. I am waiting for players who will take on defenders again, someone like Lamine Yamal... Where are the players dribbling? Where are the players with b*lls? Why is everyone passing?! Passing! Passing! Passing!"

That is exactly how I am/was, word for word, although I'm nearly 20 years younger than you.

I sort of half agree with Ruud Gullit. I do find elite football a bit stale, but this is nothing new.

Football is sort of a more complex rock, paper, scissors and you get cycles where one tactic is more dominant than the others.

Over 10 years ago football was possession heavy, so the response to that was geggenpressing. The response to geggenpressing was to sit deep and hit counters. The response to teams sitting deep is possession and set pieces.

Eventually we'll go back to pressing and so on.

You can see the cycles in defensive styles too:

However this sort of cycle is in itself quite boring.

We had a car park ticket also, I was a bit pissed off that it cost more for the cars ticket than it did for me and it didn't even get to see the game.

Not sure who got the bargain though.
