I've Lost It

I've Lost It

I didn’t know that 51 different teams had played in the Premier League until yesterday when
I attended the weekly “ Sporting Memories “ session at Deepdale.

It was John Kay who raised the fact and it got me thinking if I could name them all without cheating and using Mr.Google….
Pretty certain I would give that a good go, but for some reason I will stop at 50

I've felt this way since McAvoy tbh. I made this comment at the start of 2023...

Better man than me. As far as I'm concerned, the whole club can get fucked until he's gone. I won't be putting another penny into their coffers. Felt this way for years, was prepared to give them a chance this summer, they've blown it in a few short months.

The whole thing can get fucked. I don't appreciate being taken for a wanker and I won't allow them to continue.

I'm out until Ridsdale is out.

I've maintained that commitment. Not one penny of mine has been spent on the football club since.

Saturday, half way through the game I suddenly lost it and no idea why.
I suddenly felt sort of calm, no aggression, no fire, no passion, no anger and not even sadness
Just acceptance I suppose. I've supported North End since the very early 1960's
Always passionate, ranting and raving at poor results and performances, cheering like mad at goals and victories

Right now I have no real interest, you can call me a shit fan if you like, but I never have been, I enjoyed Bristol City away, I even took my wife.
Wrexham was poor and a hard ride home on a train full of Wrexham fans but that's fooball.
Ups and downs, good days and bad days but somehow, and I don't know how, Saturday has changed me into someone I don't recognise.
Season ticket holder for many years but I just know I won't be going on Friday, I'm not even sure it I'll tune in to watch it on telly.
My intrest has just dissapeared and right now I don't seem that bothered. I hope it returns, maybe a decent performance/result on Friday will rekindle the embers of a sadly reduced fire for the team I've followed for 64 years.
Ouch.

Sad to hear your feelings Smurf... and as I read replies on here, it sounds like most of us have gone past the excitement/disappointment/anticipation/anger rollercoaster that has become all so familiar over recent seasons. Me and my Dad have been doing this since 1978 and I felt the same on Saturday:-

Ewood 95mins - punch to stomach...
Snoop Stadium 95 mins - uppercut to jaw...
Deepdale 92 mins - gentle collapse to the canvas...
Deepdale 95+ mins - sad acceptance we're not good enough (whilst the tannoy belted out a happy whistling song and our announcer joyfully shouted that we can have another dose of dirge on Friday and we can even visit the official PNE website for all things PNE)

As I stared past Gladiators on Saturday evening and sipped my Guinness, I was like Smurf and others in feeling numb and empty (and maybe a bit relieved that the suffering has ended for this season?) 🤕

Roll on the Cricket season…..

Cold beer , warm weather and silverware for Lancashire 🤞🏻🤞🏻
Agree with all those thoughts Ando but Lancashire are the North End of cricket these last few years sadly....more interested in concerts and hospitality than the cricket side....for a county of our standing it's been shameful.....let's hope for much better this season....also looking forward to the new ground opening near me in Lostock Hall, will definitely be there and having a few scoops!!

Im looking forward to going to Farington as well Scally…

We can have a catch up over a beer

Writing on the wall after Wigan and both Blackburn games.

We’ve reverted back to the crap lacklustre football of last year. Tip, Tap then pass it back!

Given the front foot attacking form from earlier in the season, the drop off currently is even more difficult to stomach. There is a smell around the place and it’s spreading.

I love this football club, 4th generation so it’s in my blood, but lost the appetite of desire to attend long ago!

Things can be improved but not without changes of ownership and Peter the clown, but we all can see this and it’s been stated many times on here.

Sad legacy for them to leave behind really, but as fans of the club we can only hope for change, desire, commitment and something to get excited about.

I truly thought this season had a chance for all this, but as usual each wheel has fallen off 1 by 1.

Always next year.

Perfectly understandable sentiments fella and you will be far from on your own in this... It's as if our whole club has a script of treading water and not since the early 2000's has it been any different. Rest assured though, you'll not become a non NorthEnder because it's in your genes. 🙂

I’ve signed up for the members tour they emailed about last week. They’ve said places are limited but it’ll be interesting to have a look round.
Yeah, we signed up as well….

I think when we registered our interest, it was already full so we went on a waiting list….

I’m hoping that they will have a few of the tours.

It will start on a smallish scale and i think i'm correct in saying that the capacity will be 5,000....be interesting to get some feedback from somebody who does the tour..... apologies to non cricket fans for going off topic.

Hopefully see you there Ando as planning on doing a few games there myself when they start playing there.
