Lonergans save

Lonergans save

I think funbags that is the crux of so many posts about our Andy.
The one thing you look for in a keeper is consistancy and Andy is simply not consistent?

On too many occasions he has let in attempts that should have resulted in a save, people remember incidents like this more than the "dramatic" saves.

My personal worry about him is his mental aptitude, so many times he does not command his area and he does seem to be collecting a few howlers (remember the ST ledger pass back?) I was totally baffled at the Leicester game why he would indicate to brown Phil if he could co up for our free kick at 1-1 with a minute to go - odd?

Either way it's clear now he's staying so I guess we can just hope his commitment to his craft will be with PNE and his skills will begin to improve rather than plateau!

It was an unbelievable save that its more than fair to say won us a point.

Shaky, it was poor goalkeeping, however the the point is yet again, that a centre half was allowed to carry the ball from the half way line to the edge of our area and get a shot away, which is as huge defensive crime by our central midfielders.

He spilled a 35 yarder as well didn't he?

Surely the defence know Lonergan is poor from range? Why the fuck do they let teams shoot with such regularity from outside the area!

The save was nothing spesh, one of those where you make yourself big as possible and hope the striker fucks up.

From behind the goal its hard to tell but I dont recall this. If its the first half one i think you mean, it was definately more of a save than a spill and he also saved the rebound when the striker was unchallenged. I agree he should have saved the goal.

The defense also let emnes into our box unmarked late on when he should have scored, didnt they?

I suppose that is one way of looking at it - although I am the school of thought that yet another fuck up from Lonergan cost us two points.

He has made two very good saves in the last two games, but then that is his job surely?

Seriously get over it, Manager after Manager thinks he's good enough. Goal keepers make mistakes, specially when under lots of Pressure. If you think you can do better, then get to deepdale for a trail. Our goal should of been saved, so if both keepers hadn't made mistakes it would of been Nil-Nil.

Don't bother with English or the abuse, just move on coz I couldn't give a fuck. Like Mckenna you'll all be whinging when hes gone.

Who's whinging about McKenna? I'll be popping the champagne if we can find someone stupid enough to sign Lonergan, but it won't happen, managers aren't as stupid as doe eyed fans. Brown and Horton can bullshit about him being great, they're bound to, but nobody will swallow it.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, it's no coincidence that these hero worshippers are as thick as pigshit.

Are you pointing out it should have said have?

Agreed. He didn't do his job, and then he did do his job. One doesn't cancel out the other.
