Mads

Mads

I watched the Jeppe Okkels You Tube compilation and noticed moments of interplay (triangles near the touchline) that reminded me of Mads and Millar last season. I've also noticed Thorardson playing similarly. It's early days but it could be happy days if those three hit it off. Get Riis and Osmajic on the same wavelength and we might have something. 🤞

Good to see him smiling

I read the 'Shackles Celebration' post earlier and having listened to Mads I do not doubt that there was friction between Mads and Lowe. I also question the Bauer / Lowe relationship. Bauer to me is a consummate professional who may have dipped from his previous standards but deserved greater respect. Browne ditto. Ched is well past his best but his treatment has been so different. Woodburn? Players notice these things and generally don't like them.

Sat low and to the left of the AKTE tonight for reasons that I can’t even remember now. But did anyone else see Mads celebration? (right in front of us)
He turned to the other players when they got to him, crossed his hands as if handcuffed and then yanked them apart.

A definite message!

Get in lad. Now show us what you can really do.

It defies logic that a manager, any manager, who have a player like Mads and then not have him be the best version of himself. I mean, its basic management that, even I could do it.

It is another thing that proves Lowe was narcissistic and super-stubborn. Not good traits in a manager.

Mads ended the game with 74%, compared to Whiteman's 85, Ledson's 76, Brady's 76, Potts' 79 and Keane's 75.

Which, considering he as usually passing forward, instead of backwards, unlike most, is fine by me.

This is why stats annoy me, people will claim (and they are) that 74% is bad. But ball retention is just one thing. If you are making forward passes, you will get more of them wrong than backwards and sideways ones. We need players who take risks, not gung-ho, but drive forward and open play up. Otherwise we get tedious slow football like we did under Lowe.

I really don't care if Mads stats for passing are statistically terrible, but if 2 or 3 of those passes are brilliant, its worth it.

Makes me laugh that some in the stands piss and whinge at sideways and backwards passes, but if a player is brave and tries something positive that doesn't come off the pissing and whinging is often more vociferous.

Some do that, it is frustrating. I always try and go a bit OTT with "good effort!" "thats the right idea!" if i hear groans nearby.

Bingo. Stats are useful, but when taken out of context, or used poorly, they're pointless.

Said the same when defending Ledson's low pass accuracy the other day, mind, that needed more of a tin hat!

This is exactly what Bruno Fernandes said last wk. He may give the ball away on occasions, ‘forcing’ the ball; however, his stats show he is the best of his type that the Prem has seen

I'm still thinking about Mads Scissoring Fulton and then laying on an assist. I've forgotten who scored, but that nutmeg. Mads made a few lazy passes yesterday but he scored a killer goal. Forget about the stats remember the good bits.

P.S. Can one of the IT gurus on here re-post Mads Scissors Fulton moment, just to get me in the mood for Saturday. Thanks.

Like it, he’s got intelligence and charachter, now let’s hope we now see the best of him. x
