Not often I start threads but after today, I feel compelled to share my feelings.

For a while now, i've said we're going down because the damage had already been done. After Ferguson was sacked and Brown was appointed, all I asked for was not to go down without a fight. Today's performance seemed to indicate that's not going to happen.

After the Leicester game and the late equaliser I thought we were starting to turn the corner but after defeats today and against Barnsley, it seems that's bollocks.
What I saw today (second half mainly) was a complete gutless performance of epic proportions. Where was the fight? The players acted like they couldn't really give a toss and rolled over and died. This certainly isn't the right attitude to have in a relegation dogfight!
As for the defending & goalkeeping - there's no excuse for that. It certainly convinced me that St Ledger, in particular, is nothing but a spineless little b*stard. He's sulked ever since he got back from Middlesbrough and its showed in his performances.

Anyway, after the fourth goal went in, I decided since the players couldn't be bothered, neither could I, and for the first time I left a game a few minutes early.

Going back to my main point, I have never felt so negative and had such a lack of faith. I've no faith in the players because they show no fight, i've no faith in the chairman because he seems nothing more than a blabbermouth and a puppet for Hemmings. I've no faith in Hemmings himself either because it looks like his intentions for North End are to take us down to League One, probably so its 'cheaper to run the club'. Lastly, i'm not so sure about Brown. Yes, i'm probably bloody mad for saying that after only 6 games, but that spineless second half display just makes me wonder what the hell he said to the players at half time.

You now may think i'm an imbecile for saying all that (or certain parts), which is fair enough, but I just can't see things getting any better. 🙁

Somebody tell me i'm wrong!

Eventually you all come round to my way of thinking. The problem is it takes you far too long to do so. It's now too late.

I dont see even one sentence in there that is remotely your thinking. And I dont see one bit of the OPs comments that takes even the slightest bit of pleasure in saying what he says either.

Some how I guess you posted that with a big smile on your face. In your boring little world it really is all about you isn't it. Grow up or fuck off for good.

Today was us bottoming out and things will improve from now on. I'm 35% sure of it!

I agree entirely with the thread title... and with some of the reasoning. But not all of it. Looking very, very hard for a silver lining.... the first half performance wasn't bad at all. and the mentality for the second half must have been badly affected by Conor's injury.

And if TH really was looking to take us down, then Lonergan, Jones and SSL would have definitely been sold last month.

Right now, it feels like the world's against us... and I feel very depressed about it all - especially with the injury to such a bright promising young footballer. I certainly won't blame anyone for feeling equally peed off.

Hopefully by Monday, I'll feel a bit better. Certainly, there is no point in giving up, even if it is looking like the odds stacking up against us.

TBH I've tried to find silver linings for a couple of years now and have found it increasingly difficult.

Still if it's any consolation, it's just a game and although it's been the worst season for a decade or so, I'll be at Pompey & Millwall just because I follow the North End - have since the '70s and always will.

You make some good points mate.

I think the first problem was the owner waited 6 to 10 games to late to sack Ferguson and give the new manager time to change things round. I think we were effectively down by the time PB took over, so cannot really lay the blame on him so much.

The owner probably thinks thats the case and would not invest for that, the time to do that now i think will be in the summer, when PB will likely be backed a team to get us back up, to do that he will likely get rid of the likes of C Brown, W Brown, Lonergan, St Ledger, Nicholson, Davidson, Carter, Morgan, Treacy and Jones finishing his contract.
Pretty much what Norwich did when they dropped down, and as was the case with Norwich, the player knew that was going to happen so they put in similar performances to what we saw today.

I expect that League one would see a new team built on Sam Hart, McLaughlin, Bailey Wright and Cort as the centre backs, a Ashbee, Miller, Barton, Mayor, Dougan and Middleton midfield boosted by another experienced head, with a front of Johnson and Hume complimented by the signing of a big bustling League 1 striker in the same mould as Grant Holt ( who we should have signed some time ago ).

Always stay till the end but after the 3rd goal I had to fight the urge to get up and leave. When you consider how dominant we were for the majority of the first half, the awful second half performance was a complete shock. I was absolutely dumfounded that we'd let them boss the game.

Still got the fire of optimism burning but it's reduced to a pilot light at the moment. We've got good players, but in my opinion they ALL seem to be 'confidence' players, of which there is a severe lack thanks in part (most part?) to Alex's son leaving us in the position we're in.

2 wins in a row and maybe, just maybe, we might see more of the flowing attacking play they showed glimpses of in the first half.

Up the whites!

Eventually you all come round to my way of thinking. The problem is it takes you far too long to do so. It's now too late.
