I expect a lot of lads wandered down from the Barracks plus all the Cotton Mills & maybe Docks were going full belt. I bet the whole town was buzzing at that time.I'm surprised about that. There was a war on at the time and most young men had been conscripted. Maybe that was before we were fighting in mainland Europe and Africa?

The barracks definitely, but weren’t the mills staffed mostly women during the war? It’s a moot point though, the game in question was actually played in 1938, ie pre-war.I expect a lot of lads wandered down from the Barracks plus all the Cotton Mills & maybe Docks were going full belt. Sadly, BigbrotherFacebook's changed something 😒 & deleted these pictures.
I can see them if I click on where it says view attachment, they open.
I don't know for definite ( There's a WW1 Preston History book but I've not see a WW2 )
ROF Chorley/Euxton & White Lund@ Morecambe took on a lot of lasses .
As Uniform-Making was a big requirement, I'd think that there would be a lot of the most skilled people would have to keep kept on in a lot of Lancashire Mills.
It needs researching.

Not a picture but a video of an 80s game at Plymouth. Jon Clark could certainly strike a ball! You might have to be logged in to Facebook to see it but the defeat was bad enough at the time.
I remember that game, we were 4-3 up with about 4 or 5 minutes left and got beat 6-4
That looks like an aerial shot of our inter-departmental game in July 1989….
The famous night when I scored 3 goals in our 4-3 win..

Correct Janie, we went in a van and stopped over for the weekend.I remember that game, we were 4-3 up with about 4 or 5 minutes left and got beat 6-4
Very tasty after that game outside, we hid away in their supporters club called The 'corner post 'till it calmed down,
then stopped just outside Plymouth for the evening session.
An area I cannot remember.

No sound but still a good watch and a reminder of the old Deepdale. Anyone go to this game?

I remember us playing Greenock Morton in September 1979 in the Anglo Scottish Cup
We had lost in the first leg away 2-0 , one week earlier.
We lost the second leg at Deepdale 1-3.

Was on that one Janie, still got the programme. Did we win 3-0.? Was on the Kop. Our first game back in Div 2 the following Saturday was a 0-0 draw at Carlisle.
Fascinating footage thanks for that! 👍
We also played Partick again in Dec 86 at Deepdale, forgot the score on that one.
We also played Linfield at Deepdale. in 71 or 72 ,
