Coming from Higher Walton, when I was a kid it was mainly the younger ones who followed North End but there was a few old Rovers fans.
Lucky enough I moved down South in 85 so didn’t take much stick. I’d say that most of my mates aged 60 plus class Rovers the big one.

The Swan in Higher Walton used to have one wall full of Rovers photos and another full of PNE.

Yeah all in the ballpark, jcts 41 to 44, frequently working sites up and around there. Don't know where crazy got 150 miles from.

When my Dad first started taking me to games, Blackburn were considered the main rivals. I think the newspapers changed all that when they started trying to suggest there was some kind of rivalry between Finney and Mathews and also trying to debate which one was the better player. It's when fans started to fall out over the debate.

Correct 87.3 Miles but I remembered an article back n the day saying 152. So maybe as the crow flies round trip. Still way to far to be Rivals. They have Barrow now.

When you spend your life driving on the Motorway Network at a restricted 54mph, then suddenly driving your car at 70 seems very fast. Seriously.

Better still they used to have a framed team photo of Gregson Lane Swan FC on the wall from way back when George Jennis was the landlord featuring a certain pre-Bald Avenger in their ranks! 🤣

Was my local. We had a bus laid on to go Rovers on Boxing Day I think in the 80s it was 75% full of North End.
The Rovers lot was all in their latter years.
