PNE Academy 2026/27

PNE Academy 2026/27

Any news on contracts for the youth team, or those being released? Isn't there normally a communication about this?

The whole club seems to be hiding behind "NDA" as an excuse for everything.

Ben Robinson got released and had gone to Cat 2 Hull City before the season ended.
Ed Nolan appears to be OoC with no word on him being offered/accepting anything
Filipe Rodrigues-Gentile has been released.
Aaron Garrigan and Harry Stringfellow appear to have new deals but nothing confirmed by the club
Charlie Forwood, Isaac Lam, Mo Haji, Joe Blake and Jonny Brindle have played in exit trials matches so can safely say they've been released, but again no word from the club

That's all I know at the moment.

Forgot we'd also had it confirmed young Josh Muir wasn't being kept on. His new agent's Insta post made me think he had been, it sure looked impressive!

Well to bring you and update, sadly it wasn’t to be. He’s still made me proud and I hope he gets another chance somewhere else. It’s been fun while it lasted. I’m sad for him. But it is what it is.

seriously, given the clubs inability to nurture this talent, turn some profit or enjoy the exploits of some in our first 11, just what is the point?

This is what he was always good at his free kick for a young kid we’re good if I dig some out I’ll post them this video was last week at plyr.

Not sure if you'd agree or not but I thought he was wasted at CB, not convinced he fully enjoyed it either from what limited game time I saw.

Looked much more like a tall, direct and powerful left wingback to me, like a Vuckevic or a left-sided Potts. Can ping some belting crosses over with both feet! Hope he gets fixed up soon!

I think the same as you apparently one of the academy lads thought he should play further forward I did too.

I saw the other day Man United are after a Derby youngster which got me thinking. I wouldn’t be surprised if they have made more money on youth player being poached the last ten years then we have with first team sales

Just to put in perspective some of our most recent academy products. Lewis Leigh has just signed for Morecambe in National League North and he had actually played in our 1st team and had been in League 2 as well. It's going to be a while before we get any big "jewels" to sell on using the academy even when we get to level 2 status

You mean like when we sold Theo Mawene for nearly a million to Brentford last Summer?

Yeah Slater may not have made it at Brighton, but we got a little chunk of change for him too.

Would be better if we made the most of Dolan of course. All we can do is keep trying to improve the pathway and give the young lads as good a chance as possible.
